If so, you’ll want to stay as close to Central Austin as possible. For $800,000 – $1 million, you’ll find a range of architectural styles and sizes of urban homes, depending on which neighborhood you look.

Neighborhoods with Urban Homes Priced at $800k – $1 Million South of the River

South Austin (namely the 78704 zip code) is a growing urban area. With the recent redevelopment of South Lamar, South 1st and South Congress, some of Austin’s best new restaurants and live music spots can be found here. For $800,000 – $1 million, you’re most likely to find homes in these four neighborhoods. They are listed from east to west, with homes in Travis Heights and Boulin Creek being slightly older than those in Zilker and Barton Hills. The area considered “Downtown Austin” is north of the river and is where you’ll find the Capital and Austin’s original suburbs. Before Austin grew to the enormous city it is today, the neighborhoods below was where you found the elite’s “country escapes” from the bustling 10 block downtown district. Today, we consider these areas to be part of Austin’s urban, downtown area and is a great place to look if you are looking for homes priced between $800k and $1 million and want a home on a decent sized lot.
