Best Neighborhoods for Dogs: North Cat Mountain
North Cat Mountain is one of Austin’s best neighborhoods for dogs. With Bull Creek Dog Park less than a mile from the neighborhood, North Cat Mountain dogs will enjoy running around with their doggie pals. Plus, there is even a creek, so dogs that love water will love this park, especially during the summer. North Cat Mountain also has larger ¼ – ½ acre lots so dogs can stretch their legs and run around while their owners are at work.

Best Neighborhoods for Dogs: Bouldin Creek
Bouldin Creek is one of South Austin’s most walkable neighborhoods, therefore dogs that live in Bouldin Creek will probably see many more walks than those that live in a less walkable neighborhood. There is always something to do along S 1st or South Congress and many Bouldin Creek dogs get to go along for the walk.
Bouldin Creek homes sit on smaller lots, between 1/10 and ⅓ acres, but most of the homes also have a much smaller footprint, leaving room for a dog to play. Many Bouldin Creek dogs frequent Auditorium Shores Dog Park (off leash) located at the north end of the neighborhood. With access to Lady Bird Lake, doggies that love to swim look forward to this trip.

Best Neighborhoods for Dogs: Travis Heights
Travis Heights is Bouldin Creek’s easterly neighbor and is another great neighborhood for Austin’s dogs. East Riverside Dog Park, located at the north end of the neighborhood, is one of the favorite hangouts of Travis Heights pups. As with Bouldin Creek, Travis Heights is one of the most walkable South Austin neighborhoods and Travis Heights’ dogs end up spending a lot of time walking the neighborhood with their owners.
Lots are a tad bit bigger than Bouldin Creek lots (1/8 – ⅓ acres), so Travis Heights dogs have a bit more space to run around when their owners are at work.

Best Neighborhoods for Dogs: Clarksville
Clarksville, located just west of Downtown Austin, is another favorite neighborhood among Austin’s dogs and are especially grateful their owners chose a Clarksville home instead of a Downtown Austin condo. Even though Clarksville lots are fairly small (1/10 – ⅓ acre lots), it sure beats a condominium lobby and concrete. Clarksville is also a very walkable neighborhood, so these dogs likely see a lot of leash time. Also, West Austin Park and Wading Pool (another off leash dog park) is located smack dab in the middle of the neighborhood and is a favorite spot among Clarksville doggies.
