How Eanes ISD’s Feeder Pattern Works
Eanes ISD runs on a simple two-step structure: five elementary campuses (Barton Creek, Bridge Point, Cedar Creek, Eanes, and Forest Trail) feed into two middle schools, Hill Country Middle School and West Ridge Middle School, and both of those feed into a single high school, Westlake High School. Every student in the district ends up at the same high school, regardless of which elementary campus they started at.
That single-high-school structure is worth pausing on if you’re used to shopping other Austin-area districts. In many nearby districts, which elementary you’re zoned to can determine which of two or three high schools your student eventually attends, and those schools can differ meaningfully in size, programs, and ratings. In Eanes ISD, that question doesn’t come up. Every campus in the district, elementary through high school, carries a 9 or 10 out of 10 GreatSchools rating, so a home zoned to any of the five elementary schools leads to the same high school experience at Westlake.

Eanes ISD Boundaries and Zoning Changes
School zoning in Eanes ISD is set by street address, not by neighborhood name. Two homes on the same street in Rob Roy, Rollingwood, or West Lake Hills can occasionally be zoned to different campuses, and a listing description or a neighborhood’s general reputation isn’t a reliable way to confirm which school a specific home is zoned to. If a particular school is a priority for you, verify the zoning for that exact address before you write an offer.
Boundaries do move. For the 2025-26 school year, Eanes ISD closed Valley View Elementary and rezoned its students to Barton Creek Elementary, then shifted roughly 300 existing Barton Creek students to Forest Trail Elementary to keep both campuses under their enrollment caps. The district cited stagnant state funding and Valley View running at about half capacity as the reasons behind the change, with an estimated $2 million in annual savings. It’s the most significant boundary change the district has made in years, and a useful reminder that “zoned to” can change between the day a home is listed and the day a family moves in.
