Keep in mind that the GreatSchools rating above and the TEA accountability rating below measure different things, so the two can tell somewhat different stories.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
Vandegrift High received an A (92) in the Texas Education Agency’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, down slightly from an A (94) in 2024-25. Student Achievement, which is based on STAAR end-of-course results along with college, career and military readiness and graduation rates, held nearly steady, moving from an A (94) to an A (93). School Progress, which measures how much students grew from one year to the next, rose from a B (84) to a B (86). Closing the Gaps, which tracks how each student group performs against state targets, fell from an A (93) to a B (88), which accounts for most of the dip. Vandegrift has earned an A with a score of 92 or higher in every year TEA has issued ratings, and it was not identified for any federal support and improvement designation. For comparison, Leander ISD as a whole earned a B (87) in 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): A (92)
- Student Achievement: A (93)
- School Progress: B (86)
- Closing the Gaps: B (88)
- Prior Overall Ratings: A (94) in 2024-25, A (94) in 2023-24, A (93) in 2022-23, A (93) in 2021-22, and A (94) in 2018-19 (no ratings were issued for 2019-20 or 2020-21)
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. The 2022-23 and 2023-24 ratings were delayed by litigation over TEA’s methodology and were not released until 2025.

Programs at Vandegrift High
Here is what Vandegrift and Leander ISD publish for the campus. Families comparing schools should note the change to the IB program below.
- AP, AP Capstone and Dual Credit: Advanced Placement courses, the AP Capstone program (AP Seminar and AP Research) and Austin Community College dual credit courses are offered on campus, as at every Leander ISD high school.
- IB Diploma Programme (phasing out): Vandegrift’s IB Diploma Programme is closing. Leander ISD is consolidating IB at Leander High School starting in 2026-27, and Vandegrift’s last IB class graduates in spring 2027. Vandegrift-zoned students who want IB after that can transfer to Leander HS, with district transportation for eligible students. The campus website may still describe Vandegrift as an IB World School.
- CTE: INCubatoredu Entrepreneurship: The INCubatoredu and ACCELeratoredu entrepreneurship sequence, where students build a business with volunteer mentors. Vandegrift and Vista Ridge are the only Leander ISD high schools that offer it.
- CTE: Veterinary Science: The Animal Science: Veterinary program of study, offered at Vandegrift, Leander and Vista Ridge. The district’s CTE guidebook we used is labeled 2024-25, so confirm course offerings in the current catalog.
- Fine Arts: Band, choir, dance and theatre arts. The band won bronze at the 2025 UIL 6A State Marching Band Contest.
- Athletics: A full UIL Class 6A program in District 24-6A. In 2024-25, Vandegrift won 6A state titles in football and boys soccer, and boys cross country finished as state runner-up again in 2025.
- UIL Lone Star Cup: Vandegrift was named the 2024-25 UIL Lone Star Cup champion for Conference 6A with 122 points, including state titles in football, boys soccer and FIRST robotics.
- Facilities: New turf fields were completed, with a ribbon-cutting announced in February 2026. HVAC replacement and roof repairs are still unfunded. A citizens’ facility committee recommended them for a future bond in July 2026, but the board did not put a bond on the November 2026 ballot.
Clubs and schedules change from year to year, so check the Vandegrift High website for the current list.

Vandegrift High Attendance Zone Map
Vandegrift’s attendance zone covers the southern tip of Leander ISD in northwest Austin, about 10,900 address points in all. Steiner Ranch is by far the largest neighborhood and accounts for more than half of the zone’s home sales. River Place is the next largest, followed by Parke, River Dance, Long Canyon, Westminster Glen, Glenlake, Canyon Creek, Grandview Hills and the Preserve at Four Points, with smaller numbers of sales in The Retreat at Steiner Ranch, Versante Canyon, McCormick Ranch on Lake Austin and Comanche Trail. The zone’s elementary schools have Austin addresses in the 78726, 78730 and 78732 zip codes. To confirm the school for a specific address, use Leander ISD’s School Zone Finder.
Leander ISD’s 2023 secondary rezoning, which took effect in 2024-25, did not change the Vandegrift zone. The district’s zone finder still shows separate 9th-10th and 11th-12th grade high school layers from that phase-in, but for Vandegrift the two are identical. Always check a specific address in the zone finder rather than relying on the school named in an MLS listing.
Homes Zoned to Vandegrift High: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes sold through Unlock MLS that sit inside Vandegrift High’s current 2026-27 attendance zone. We pulled every Leander ISD sale, matched each address to Leander ISD address points (or a geocoder for the few that did not match) and checked it against Leander ISD’s official Vandegrift boundary, regardless of which school the listing named. Steiner Ranch accounts for most of these sales, followed by River Place, with smaller numbers in Parke, River Dance, Long Canyon, Westminster Glen and Glenlake.

Data sourced from Unlock MLS. Statistics deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Single-family homes only, including condo-regime homes. Each address was matched to Leander ISD address points and checked against Leander ISD’s official 2026-27 attendance-zone boundary, using the 9th-10th grade high school layer of the district’s zone finder, which now reflects the high school zone for all grades. Sale-to-list ratio is the median of each sale’s close price divided by its final list price. Days on market is cumulative days on market.
The median sale price in the Vandegrift zone was $850,000 over the trailing twelve months, 9.6% below 2024-25’s $940,000 and 1.2% below the $860,000 median of 2022-23. Price per square foot was $277.91, down 4.5% from 2024-25 and 4.2% from 2022-23, and below the 2023-24 high of $296.04. That is the highest median of any Leander ISD high school zone and well above the district-wide median of $535,000. Sales over the past year ranged from $434,999 to $6,150,000.
Sales picked up even as prices eased. 351 homes sold over the past twelve months, up 17.0% from 300 in 2024-25 and up 9.7% from 320 in 2022-23. This is almost entirely a resale market, since only 2 of this year’s sales were newly built homes and the median home sold was built in 2004. Homes took a median of 46 days to sell, quicker than the Leander ISD median of 54 days but up from 29 days in 2022-23, and sellers received a median of 97.0% of their final list price.

| Active | 152 | $962,450 | 91 days |
| Active Under Contract | 26 | $1,032,000 | 94 days |

Data sourced from Unlock MLS. Statistics deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Same zone check as above. Days on market is cumulative days on market.
188 homes are currently active, under contract, or pending in the Vandegrift zone. With 152 active listings against about 29 sales a month over the past year, the zone has roughly 5.2 months of inventory, which is a balanced market.
The median active list price of $962,450 is well above the trailing-twelve-month median sale price of $850,000. 70 of the 152 active listings are priced at $1 million or more, and none are under $400,000. Active listings range from $435,000 to $20,000,000 and have been on the market a median of 91 days. Only 10 homes are pending, so the median for that group doesn’t say much about the typical home in the zone.
