Do photos matter? We’ve been saying for years YES! That’s why we hire a professional to take pictures of every single one of the homes we list for sale. Now there are numbers to back up our claim.

Professional Photos Worth at Least $1,000

In a study done by Redfin, homes that had professional photos taken sold for $934 – $116,076 more than homes that did not use professional photos. Yet, only about 15% of all homes listed had professional photos. Shockingly 0.7% of homes listed for sale used cell phone pictures.

Professional Photos Increased Likelihood of Selling

The same study also found homes with professional photos got 61% more online views and had a 47% higher price per square foot. Professional photos also increased the likelihood of homes priced above $300,000 selling.

Why Don’t All Realtors Have Professional Photos Taken?

The truth is, professional photography runs anywhere from $100-$500. A lot of Realtors don’t want to shell out the extra money to market their listings and feel photos aren’t that important to justify the cost.

Obviously the public feels very differently. That’s why we have been using a professional photographer to take pictures of all the homes we list for sale. A higher sales price for you is worth our marketing dollars.

What Does this Mean to Austin Home Sellers?

Make sure the Realtor you choose will hire a professional to photograph your home. Also, make sure they are choosing a photography package with at least 25 photos, which is the max number of photos allowed by the Austin MLS. You want to show as many quality photos of your home as possible.

Professional Photography Means More Money for You

Professional photography can literally be worth $1,000 (or more). A professional photo encourages online buyers to click through and view your home. Several professional photos with proper angles and lighting will encourage buyers to view your home in person. The more buyers you can attract to your home, the greater the chance of receiving an attractive offer.
