Manchaca, pronounced MAN-chack, is a small southwest suburb of Austin. Manchaca is unincorporated and is home to a few thousand people. Manchaca grew in the late 1800s with the addition of the International-Great Northern Railroad. The city became a shipping point for cotton, grain, lumber and posts. Since the railroad days, Manchaca has increased and decreased in population over the years as the area around it has grown tremendously. Manchaca is the perfect place to look if you want to live in Southwest Austin on a larger lot with few restrictions. Scroll Down to Read our Manchaca Neighborhood Guide.
