Golf Near Driftwood
Golf in Driftwood starts right at home. Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club is an 800-acre master-planned community built around a Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole championship course set among more than 70 acres of estate vineyards. It is one of the most distinctive golf experiences in Central Texas, with resort-style amenities including a full clubhouse, lazy river, and bowling lanes. For non-members or residents outside the community, the closest public option is Grey Rock Golf Course in Circle C, about 15 minutes away via Highway 45, with pay-as-you-play and membership options.
Is Driftwood too Secluded for You?
Driftwood is a community you choose intentionally. Residents trade some commute convenience for space, quiet, and a Hill Country lifestyle that is hard to replicate elsewhere near Austin. The drive to downtown Austin typically takes 35–45 minutes via Highway 290 or FM 150 under normal conditions, extending to 60 minutes during peak hours. Dripping Springs is about 15–20 minutes away for everyday shopping and services, and Wimberley is about 15–20 minutes south via FM 150 or RM 12. If you prefer a more active suburban setting with walkable retail and smaller lots, take a look at Circle C or Meridian in Southwest Austin instead.

Places to Eat Near Driftwood
Driftwood has more dining character than you’d expect from a rural Hill Country community. Salt Lick BBQ on Ranch Road 1826 is one of the most iconic barbecue restaurants in Texas — all-you-can-eat, BYOB, with 50+ acres of estate vineyards on the property producing wines under the Salt Lick Cellars label. Trattoria Lisina on FM 150 W brings country-style Italian dining to the Hill Country in a stunning Tuscan-inspired setting, and is one of the most acclaimed restaurants in Central Texas. The Hays City Store is a casual local bar and live music venue. Several wineries along the Driftwood Wine Trail also serve food, including Duchman Family Winery and Driftwood Estate Winery, which operates the Driftwood Bistro on Fridays through Sundays. Have out of town guests? The combination of Salt Lick, Trattoria Lisina, and a winery visit makes for an excellent day in the Hill Country.
Driftwood Wine Trail
One of the most distinctive aspects of living in Driftwood is direct access to the Driftwood Wine Trail — a loop of approximately eight wineries running along RM 12 and RM 150 toward Wimberley. It is one of the most concentrated wine trail destinations in Central Texas and a genuine quality-of-life amenity for residents.
- Duchman Family Winery — Italian varietals grown in Texas Hill Country, with a beautiful tasting room and event space.
- Fall Creek Vineyards Driftwood — A Hill Country outpost of one of Texas’s most established wine producers.
- Hawk’s Shadow Winery — A smaller boutique winery with a relaxed tasting experience on scenic Hill Country grounds.
- Driftwood Estate Winery — A working vineyard open daily with a bistro serving food Friday through Sunday.
- Salt Lick Cellars — The winery arm of the Salt Lick family, with 50+ acres of estate vineyards on the original Salt Lick ranch.
- Wimberley Valley Winery — A well-regarded producer south toward Wimberley, completing the scenic loop.
Shopping Near Driftwood
Grocery shopping can be done in either Dripping Springs at the H-E-B on 290 or in Circle C at the H-E-B in Escarpment Village. For your bigger box retailers, try Sunset Valley, which can be accessed from MoPac. For a short cut, take FM 1826 to 45 to MoPac to avoid the light at the Y in Oak Hill. Like outlet malls?
