What Criteria Did they Use to Evaluate Cities?

Every year, Livability puts out their “Best Affordable Places to Live” list for families looking for a more affordable location, but still wants to live in a nice place. Livability looked at costs of health care, food, housing and transportation with data from C2ER and HUD as well as the tax climate in each state. Finally, they factored in their unique, LivScore and selected one city per state to give some geographic balance. For more about the study, check out the original article here.

Round Rock Named #1 on Best Affordable Places to Live in US

After evaluating all the cities, Round Rock made it’s way to the top of the Best Affordable Places to Live list. With a low sales tax rate and no state income tax, Round Rock residents keep more of their paychecks in their pockets. And, with some of the city’s largest employers within a short distance of the city, Round Rock residents enjoy a shorter commute and a higher than average salary. Home prices in Round Rock are also much more affordable than neighboring Austin, TX, but residents still get to enjoy all of what the Austin metro area has to offer. With a healthy economy, booming job market, highly rated schools and low fees, it makes sense why Round Rock residents enjoy living there.

Considering a Move to Round Rock or Austin?

We relocated to Austin a few years ago from one of the countries most desirable places to live and absolutely love it. We moved to Austin for a lot of the reasons on this study. We wanted an affordable area, but also a place we would want to live. Round Rock and Austin fit that bill. Having relocating ourselves and having helped many families do the same, we are very familiar with the process. We know the metro area well and can help you find the best place for your and your family – whether it be Round Rock or another Austin area city.
