Austin Named Best City for Future Job Growth

July 29, 2014 By Rebecca Jacks

The King of “Best of” City Lists, Forbes, recently released their list for best cities for future job growth and Austin (not surprisingly) found it’s way on that list. Those of you who have relocated to Austin without a job are probably not surprised by this award. I’ve heard many stories of people moving here with no job and finding one in a matter of days. And, not a job they settled for because they had no other source of income. A job in the field they are most qualified.

Austin Named #2 Best City for Future Job Growth

Forbes’ listed the top 10 US cities for future job growth and Austin was listed as #2 behind Naples Florida. Forbes projected a 4.1% annual job growth for Austin (as well as Naples). Austin’s median household income is $58,932 and unemployment rate is 4.1%. Naples has a median household income of $56,759 and a 5.4% unemployment rate. Austin’s unemployment rate is the lowest of any city in the top 10.

The Austin Job Market is Booming

Austin is one of the few places in the United States that people can relocate to without finding a job first. Our job market is booming and employers are constantly looking for a qualified work force. The City of Austin is also doing everything they can to encourage more businesses to bring high paying jobs to the area. As Forbes predicts, I would also expect the job market to continue to boom.
