#1: Colorado Crossing

Colorado Crossing is a fairly large neighborhood located at Burleson Rd and McKinney Falls Pky in Southeast Austin. With access off 183, 71 and 35, Colorado Crossing has many access points to get to Downtown Austin. Construction started in the early 2000’s and continues today, making it an ideal choice for someone looking for either an established looking neighborhood or something brand new. Colorado Crossing is also one of the few neighborhoods to put solar panels on homes, which attracts both the budget conscious and eco-friendly buyer. There are no community amenities, but most residents prefer to keep it that way since they are only about 18 minutes from the best of Downtown Austin.

#2: Buckingham Estates

Buckingham Estates is the only genuinely established neighborhood on this list. And, the only neighborhood with a West of 35 location. Buckingham Estates homes were built in the 1970s and 1980s, so trees have had a chance to mature, giving a nice canopy over your backyard. Homes priced below $200k in Buckingham Estates are generally small, but if you don’t need too much square footage and want a great location at William Cannon and 1st, Buckingham Estates is the ideal place to start your search.

#3: Sheldon

Located at the edge of development in Southeast Austin, you’ll feel like you are farther outside of Austin than you really are. The neighborhood is only about 7 minutes from 35 and William Cannon and 9 minutes from Slaughter and 35. If you’re looking for newer homes powered by green energy with amenities, Sheldon is the ideal place to start your home search.

#4: Crossing at Onion Creek
