If you’ve been considering relocating to Austin, you’ve probably done your research on all the awards the city has won recently. From America’s Next Boom Town to Top City to Start Over, Best City to Buy a Home, Austin is making a name for itself nationally – and this appears to be just the beginning.

The Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2017 by U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report, well known for their rankings of American cities, recently came out with their list of the Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2017. You can read the full article here.

Austin Named the Best Place to Live in the U.S. in 2017

If you’ve ever talked to an Austinite about their city, you’ll probably hear about the great weather, killer tacos and laid-back residents. But aside from those benefits, the city can now boast about some pretty solid facts. Almost 1.9MM people now enjoy an average salary of $49,560 and an average monthly rent of only $1,044. The affordability of Austin contributes to the city’s livability which drives nearly 50 people a day to the Live Music Capital of the World.

Texas Had 4 Metros in the Top 25

All four major Texas metropolitan areas (Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas) were all in the Top 25. Why? Strong job markets and (relatively) low cost of living are driving migration to the state of Texas. Combine that with sunshine and Tex-Mex and it is not surprising why Texas is the state to beat.

What Factors Were Considered?

According to the report, “to make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.”

Considering Relocating to Austin?

Though Austin has grown tremendously in the past several years, projections are it will continue to grow for years to come. Austin is going to truly be a world class city once all of the planned improvements are complete. And, housing prices are still affordable when you compare them to other booming tech areas.
