With the explosion of growth in Cedar Park and Leander, Liberty Hill has started to see its fair share of population increase. What was once a sleepy little town that had a couple of restaurants and small businesses now has a Starbucks, several chain restaurants and a brand new H-E-B on the border of Leander and Liberty Hill, making it a much more convenient place to live. Gated communities in Liberty Hill are not common, but there are some and you’ll see more as the city grows. Scroll down to find out all of the gated communities in Liberty Hill.

Gated Communities in Liberty Hill

If you want to live in Liberty Hill and want a gated community, your main choices are going to be a gated section of a master planned community, a few gated communities with acreage lots and a few of those are equestrian communities and you’ll also find a low maintenance “lock and leave” gated community within Santa Rita Ranch. Here we’ve listed the neighborhoods out, showed you where they are, given you a profile of the type of home you can expect to find there and a list of what’s currently for sale.

A small community of luxury homes on 2 acre lots, Bridle Gate was built in the late 2010s by Prince Developments. With only about 15 homes, you don’t usually come across one for sale, so if you see one and think you’re going to wait for the next one, you might be waiting a while. Inside you can expect more traditional finishes, despite being built in the late 2010s, making it ideal for someone who isn’t a fan of the super modern finish out. Lots are two acres, which means more space between your neighbors and more space for your outdoor living areas. If you’re looking for newer luxury in a private, small community, Bridle Gate is a great place to start your search.

One of the more established gated communities in Liberty Hill, Carrington Ranch has a range of housing with homes as small as 1,500 square feet and as large as 3,500 square feet, making it ideal for someone in every stage of life. The community is basically a large oval with a couple of side streets making it pretty efficient for the space. Carrington Ranch homes were also custom designed, so you won’t see the same floor plan or architectural style numerous times throughout the neighborhood. And, having been built over a few decades, you’ll get a range of styles and interior finishes. If you like a neighborhood that has some character and want to be behind a gate, Carrington Ranch might be the best place to start your search.

One of our equestrian gated communities in Liberty Hill, High River Ranch is ideal for someone who either wants to bring their horses, or who wants some extra space as some lots are as big as 6.5 acres. In addition to horses, residents are allowed to keep chickens as well. The majority of the homes are between 2,000-3,000 square feet so they are manageable. You will have some as small as 1,600 and as large as 4,700 square feet for those looking for something outside that range. High River Ranch is also the most remote, being about 9 minutes from 29, so if you want more serenity and quiet, High River Ranch might be the place to start your search.

The farthest west Liberty Hill gated community is Rio Ancho. Part of the community is in the Burnet ISD, so if you’re looking for Liberty Hill ISD, you’ll want to be sure you’re in the right section of the neighborhood. Rio Ancho first was developed in the late 2000s and building continues today (2023), so there is a range of both architectural style and interior finish. The community was built by several builders, so you won’t see the same house and some are even high end custom homes. Given its location, it is pretty peaceful and serene but still not too far off 29 for someone who might need to commute.

A large neighborhood with hundreds of homes, Santa Rita Ranch has won several awards over the years. Most of the neighborhood is made up of traditional single family homes, but there is one section of gated, lock and leave garden homes built by Sitterle Homes. Sitterle is known for its high end finishes and well laid out floor plans. Santa Rita Ranch is known for its numerous amenities, making it ideal for someone who wants no maintenance and access to community pools, lounge areas, gas grills, fire place, picnic areas, playscape, hiking trails and sports fields. You cannot beat Santa Rita Ranches amenities and these gated garden homes have the best of all worlds. Low maintenance and plenty of activities.

The majority of Stonewall Ranch is not gated. But, there is one section on Milestone Road of gated homes in what the developer has called the Estates of Stonewall Ranch. Homes sit on large 1-2 acre lots, so you’ll have much more space than the rest of the neighborhood. The Estates of Stonewall Ranch really feels more like its own separate community because it is so different from the rest. You will still have access to the community pool, playground, splash pad and basketball court, though many of the homes do have their own pools.

Another one of the areas earlier master planned communities, Sundance Estates residents are drawn to the mature landscaping and varying architectural styles. Many of the homes are in original condition, so you can have a blank slate to make your own updates while still enjoying a gated community with privacy and shade from mature landscaping. The range of home sizes is also a draw, as there are some smaller homes so you don’t have to keep up a 4,000 square foot home just to be behind a gate.

Sundance Ranch is one of Liberty Hill’s original luxury estates gated communities. Built in the late 1990s when there was not much in Liberty Hill, it used to be a much more rural setting. Now it is pretty convenient being only 4 minutes from downtown Liberty Hill. Homes sit on minimum 2.5 acre lots, with some as large as 13 acres so there is a lot of room to build what you need to. It’s also one of the few neighborhoods where you can find a 5,000 square foot plus house, so if you need something on the larger side, Sundance Ranch is the place to go.
