- Niche Overall Grade: B-
The school is named for Ruth Barron, who was born in Pflugerville in 1901, graduated from Pflugerville High School, and taught first grade in the district for most of a 39-year career. These three ratings measure different things, which is worth knowing before comparing schools. GreatSchools weighs test performance against schools serving similar student populations. Niche blends test scores, teacher data, and other factors into a single letter grade; Barron’s B- breaks down into a C+ for academics, a B+ for diversity, and a B- for teachers. The Texas Education Agency’s rating, below, is the state’s own official measurement and the one used for school accountability purposes.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in September 2026, Barron Elementary earned an overall B with a score of 85. That is a clear step up from the C ratings it received the previous three years: 73 in 2024-25, 79 in 2023-24, and 75 in 2022-23. Before that, the campus earned a B (82) in 2021-22 and a B (81) in 2018-19.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): B (85)
- Student Achievement: D (69), based on STAAR performance
- School Progress: B (86), with Academic Growth at B (86) and Relative Performance at C (75)
- Closing the Gaps: B (81)
- 2025-26 Distinction: Top 25% Comparative Academic Growth
Barron’s B is driven by growth rather than raw test scores. TEA builds a campus’s overall score from the better of its Student Achievement and School Progress scores (70%) plus Closing the Gaps (30%), so Barron’s strong year-over-year student growth counted and its D in Student Achievement did not. On the 2026 STAAR tests, 42% of Barron students were at grade level or above in reading, 39% in math, and 19% in science. The campus also earned a distinction for academic growth in the top 25% of comparable campuses statewide, and it earned the same growth distinction in 2023-24. For context, under TEA’s scale an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized performance, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable.

Barron Elementary Attendance Zone Map
The map above shows where the Barron Elementary campus building sits. To confirm whether a specific home address is zoned to Barron, use Pflugerville ISD’s official address lookup: Pflugerville ISD Find My School Map.
Barron’s zone is centered on Harris Ridge Boulevard north of Howard Lane, west of Dessau Road. It includes Northtown Park, Northtown West, Wildflower, Parkway, most of Village at Northtown, Retreat at Harris Ridge, Fort Dessau, and Hillcrest. A few nearby neighborhoods that are easy to confuse are zoned elsewhere: Lakes at Northtown goes to Northwest Elementary, and Gaston-Sheldon and Brookfield Estates, just east of the campus, go to Wieland Elementary.
Boundaries may change for 2027-28. Pflugerville ISD is closing Dessau, Parmer Lane, Pflugerville, and Windermere Elementary at the end of the 2026-27 school year. Barron is not closing, and at 69% of its 850-student capacity it has room to grow. The two draft rezoning maps advanced for public feedback in September 2026 project very different enrollment for Barron: about 768 students under Map 5 versus about 662 under Map 9, which suggests Map 5 would move more homes into Barron’s zone. The final recommendation goes to the school board in November 2026, and new boundaries take effect for the 2027-28 school year. If you are buying with a specific school in mind, check the Pflugerville ISD Rezoning Task Force page for the final map before you write an offer.

Data sourced from Unlock MLS. Statistics deemed reliable but not guaranteed.
The swings in the median sale price mostly reflect which homes sold, not a boom and bust. In 2023-24 and 2024-25, homes built since 2015, mostly new construction in Village at Northtown selling between $400,000 and $500,000, made up about 70% to 77% of sales and pulled the median up to about $420,000. Over the trailing twelve months, sales were split evenly between newer homes and the older 1,000 to 1,900 square foot homes in Northtown Park and Wildflower, bringing the median back down to $348,950, about 2% below 2022-23. Median price per square foot, which is less sensitive to that mix, has eased about 7.5%, from $219.50 to $203.12. Sales volume has roughly halved, from 46 homes to 24, and median days on market doubled from 17 to 34. Sellers are still getting about 98% to 99% of their final list price.

The final recommendation goes to the board in November 2026. Check Pflugerville ISD’s Rezoning Task Force page for the final boundaries.
