Leander Middle has a more economically diverse student body than most Leander ISD campuses. In 2025-26, about 34% of students were economically disadvantaged, compared with about 20% districtwide. About 14% were identified as gifted and talented, about 23% received special education services, and about 13% were emergent bilingual students. Keep in mind that the GreatSchools rating above and the TEA accountability rating below measure different things, so the two can tell somewhat different stories.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
Leander Middle received a B (82) in the Texas Education Agency’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, down from a B (89) in 2024-25. All three domains slipped. Student Achievement, which is based on STAAR results, fell from a B (85) to a B (80). School Progress, which measures how much students grew from one year to the next, fell from a B (88) to a B (81). Closing the Gaps, which tracks how each student group performs against state targets, dropped from an A (91) to a B (85). Even with the dip, Leander Middle has earned a B in every year TEA has issued ratings since 2019, with scores between 81 and 89. It was not identified for any federal support and improvement designation. For comparison, Leander ISD as a whole earned a B (87) in 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): B (82)
- Student Achievement: B (80)
- School Progress: B (81)
- Closing the Gaps: B (85)
- Prior Overall Ratings: B (89) in 2024-25, B (83) in 2023-24, B (86) in 2022-23, B (81) in 2021-22, and B (86) in 2018-19 (no ratings were issued for 2019-20 or 2020-21)
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. The 2022-23 and 2023-24 ratings were delayed by litigation over TEA’s methodology and were not released until 2025.

Leander Middle Attendance Zone Map
Leander Middle’s attendance zone covers central Leander and a wide area to the north and northwest. Close to the campus it takes in Mason Creek, Mason Creek North, Vista Ridge, Cedar Brook, Westview Meadows, Magnolia Creek and Old Town Village. To the northwest it includes Rosenbusch Ranch, the zone’s busiest subdivision by sales, along with Hawkes Landing, Carneros Ranch, North Creek and Westwood. It also includes Benbrook Ranch, Oak Creek, Northside Meadow and the Estates of North Creek Ranch, plus the Devine Lake area. Danielson Middle shares the Plain, Bagdad and Hisle elementary areas, and Running Brushy Middle shares the Whitestone Elementary area. To confirm the school for a specific address, use Leander ISD’s School Zone Finder.
Several elementary zones are split between Leander Middle and Danielson Middle, including Plain, Bagdad and Hisle, so neighbors who share an elementary school do not always share a middle school. The high school picture also changed recently. Leander ISD’s June 2023 secondary rezoning, which took effect in 2024-25, moved 13 neighborhoods from Glenn High to Leander High, and much of the Leander Middle zone was part of that shift. Under the older boundaries about 80% of the zone was zoned to Glenn. Today about 65% is zoned to Leander High. Older MLS listings may still name Glenn for homes now zoned to Leander High, so check the current zone for an address rather than relying on a listing’s school field.
