The Colorado Foothills are one of ten subdivisions that make up the Highland Park West Balcones neighborhood. It was first developed in the 1950s and 1960s with one story ranch homes. Around the tech boom when the land become much more valuable, builders started building custom multi-million dollar estates. The first development began in the Foothill Parkway/Foothill Terrace roundabout and then spread to Balcones Drive. The newer, larger homes are found on Balcones Drive.
