Golf Near Fairway at Great Hills
The Great Hills Country Club is virtually your backyard and is where many residents play. A member owned club, Great Hills golf course challenges even the most advanced golfers. Built in 1971, the Great Hills course was designed by Don January and Billy Martindale. Updated in 2001 to include Champions tiff greens, putting surfaces became more consistent, fast and challenging.
Things to Do Near Fairway at Great Hills
Join the Great Hills Country Club. With one of the most active tennis facilities for both adults and juniors, Great Hills is the place to be if you want to participate in competitive tennis. If you’re more interested in the social and dining aspects of a club, Great Hills offers a friendly environment to get together with friends and relax at your home away from home.
Shop at the Arboretum or the Domain. Both great outdoor malls with upscale shops. Its fun to go there even if you just want to people watch or window shop. The Gateway across 183 from the Arboretum has a Whole Foods Market, Container Store, Best Buy and a movie theater.
Places to Eat Near Fairway at Great Hills
North by Northwest is a popular brewery. They have all different types of beer – make sure you try their sampler if you’re a beer drinker – and an even bigger selection of upscale pub food. Though they do have the standard pizza, wings and burgers, they also have items you’d expect to find in a bistro like crab cakes, bacon wrapped smoked scallops and grilled bacon-wrapped quail. Open daily for lunch and dinner, this restaurant also has a well known happy hour.
Eddie V’s is another popular restaurant in the Arboretum. They too are known for their happy hour when you can try a few of their appetizers at a discount. With a great wine list and some even better entrees, Eddie V’s is one of my favorites.
Z’Tejas, also in the Arboretum is another local favorite. A fusion of Mexican and urban style cuisine, Z’Tejas puts a spin on the traditional favorites. Try their margaritas while you’re there.
Manuel’s Mexican is popular for their homemade salsas, fresh seafood, fajitas and have some of the best margaritas in Austin. They have happy hour everyday from 4-6pm and serve Sunday brunch with live music. Fun place with good music.
