Bagdad Elementary School is in the Leander ISD and earned a 4/10 rating from Great School’s as of October 2026. The kindergarten through 5th grade campus opened in 1999 on Deercreek Lane in west Leander and takes its name from the 1800s Bagdad community, which built the area’s first school. Bagdad is one of four Leander ISD elementaries with a two-way Spanish-English dual language program, and the campus finished a bond-funded modernization in 2025. Its attendance zone runs along Bagdad Road and Hero Way West and includes Rosenbusch Ranch, Hawkes Landing, Carneros Ranch, North Creek and Westwood, plus a rural section to the west. Below you’ll find the school’s current Texas Education Agency rating, its programs, the zone and feeder schools, and three years of MLS sales data for homes inside Bagdad’s current boundary.

Bagdad serves a diverse student body. In 2024-25, about 55% of students were emergent bilingual, compared with about 14% districtwide, about 46% were economically disadvantaged, about 21% received special education services, and about 7% were identified as gifted and talented. Bagdad is a Title I campus. Keep in mind that the GreatSchools rating above and the TEA accountability rating below measure different things, so the two can tell somewhat different stories.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
Bagdad Elementary received an F (59) in the Texas Education Agency’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, down from a C (76) in 2024-25. Student Achievement, which is based on STAAR results, was an F (54), compared with an F (57) the year before. School Progress, which measures how much students grew from one year to the next, fell from a C (76) to an F (58). Closing the Gaps, which tracks how each student group performs against state targets, fell from a C (76) to a D (61). TEA builds the overall score mainly from the better of Student Achievement and School Progress, so the 2024-25 C reflected stronger student growth that year, and the 2025-26 F reflects lower scores in both. TEA also identified Bagdad for Additional Targeted Support (ATS), a federal school-improvement designation based on the performance of individual student groups; campuses with this designation put a targeted improvement plan in place. Bagdad was identified for ATS in 2023 and 2024 and for Targeted Support and Improvement in 2025. Over the longer run, Bagdad earned C ratings in 2018-19 and 2021-22 and D ratings in 2022-23 and 2023-24. The F is one year’s result, and ratings can move from year to year. For comparison, Leander ISD as a whole earned a B (87).
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): F (59)
- Student Achievement: F (54)
- School Progress: F (58)
- Closing the Gaps: D (61)
- Federal Designation: Additional Targeted Support (2026). Also identified for Targeted Support and Improvement in 2025 and Additional Targeted Support in 2023 and 2024.
- Prior Overall Ratings: C (76) in 2024-25, D (68) in 2023-24, D (65) in 2022-23, C (74) in 2021-22, and C (79) in 2018-19 (no ratings were issued for 2019-20 or 2020-21)
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. The 2022-23 and 2023-24 ratings were delayed by litigation over TEA’s methodology and were not released until 2025. The 2024-25 enrollment included Pre-K students who moved to the Faubion School for Early Childhood in 2026-27, so the student body today is somewhat different.

- Pre-K: Starting in 2026-27, Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 for the Bagdad zone are held at Leander ISD’s Ada Mae Faubion School for Early Childhood, which also serves the Larkspur, North, Plain and Tarvin zones. Bagdad hosted Pre-K through 2025-26.

Bagdad Elementary Attendance Zone Map
Bagdad’s attendance zone covers about 8.5 square miles of west Leander. Most of its homes sit along Bagdad Road and Hero Way West, in Rosenbusch Ranch, Hawkes Landing, Carneros Ranch, North Creek, Westwood, South Brook and the Retreat at Hero Way. The zone also takes in a rural section farther west around Big Sandy Drive and Windy Valley Road, including parts of Sandy Creek Ranches and Roundmountain Oaks. Nearby zones include Hisle to the north and west, Camacho to the east, Plain to the northeast, Mason to the southwest and Whitestone to the southeast. To confirm the school for a specific address, use Leander ISD’s School Zone Finder.
Hisle Elementary opened in August 2024 partly to relieve enrollment at Bagdad, and some neighborhoods are split between nearby zones. Carneros Ranch is mostly zoned to Bagdad, but a small part is zoned to Camacho, and Sandy Creek Ranches and Roundmountain Oaks are split with Hisle. Because MLS listings don’t always reflect current boundaries, check the zone for a specific address rather than relying on a listing’s school field.
Homes Zoned to Bagdad Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes sold through Unlock MLS that sit inside Bagdad Elementary’s current 2026-27 attendance zone. We pulled every Leander ISD sale, matched each address to Leander ISD address points (or a geocoder for the few that did not match) and checked it against Leander ISD’s official Bagdad boundary, regardless of which school the listing named. Most of these sales are in Rosenbusch Ranch, with smaller numbers in Hawkes Landing, Carneros Ranch, North Creek, Westwood, South Brook and the Retreat at Hero Way.

Data sourced from Unlock MLS. Statistics deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Single-family homes only, including condo-regime homes. Each address was matched to Leander ISD address points and checked against Leander ISD’s official 2026-27 attendance-zone boundary. Sale-to-list ratio is the median of each sale’s close price divided by its final list price. Days on market is cumulative days on market.
The median sale price in the Bagdad zone was $465,990 over the trailing twelve months, 6.8% below 2024-25’s $499,990 and 1.9% below the $475,000 median of 2022-23. Price per square foot has eased more steadily: $187.12 over the past year, down 12.5% from the 2022-23 high of $213.78 and down 7.4% from 2024-25. Bagdad’s median sale price sits well below the Leander ISD median of $535,000 over the same period.
Sales volume has grown each year. 187 homes sold over the past twelve months, up 3.3% from 181 the year before and up 74.8% from 107 in 2022-23. New construction is a big part of the market, with 44 of this year’s sales being newly built homes. Homes are taking longer to sell, with a median of 80 days on market, compared with 34 days in 2022-23, and sellers received a median of 97.7% of their final list price.
Current Inventory Snapshot
As of October 2, 2026
| Status | Count | Median List Price | Median Days on Market |
| Active | 55 | $494,000 | 57 days |
| Active Under Contract | 4 | $335,000 | 77 days |

Data sourced from Unlock MLS. Statistics deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Same zone check as above. Days on market is cumulative days on market.
76 homes are currently active, under contract, or pending in the Bagdad zone. With 55 active listings against about 16 sales a month over the past year, the zone has roughly 3.5 months of inventory, which leans toward sellers, although the longer days on market show buyers still have room to negotiate.
The median active list price of $494,000 is a little above the trailing-twelve-month median sale price of $465,990. Active listings range from $296,000 to $995,000, 14 of the 55 are priced under $400,000, and 32 are new construction. Active listings have been on the market a median of 57 days. Sixteen of the 17 pending sales are new construction. Only four homes are under contract, so the median for that group doesn’t say much about the typical home in the zone.

Carneros Ranch is mostly zoned to Bagdad, with a small part zoned to Camacho. Smaller pockets without their own guides include South Brook and Hidden Mesa.
Feeder Middle and High School
About 90% of the Bagdad zone’s address points feed Leander Middle School. The remaining 10%, mostly the rural western section around Big Sandy Drive and Windy Valley Road, feed Danielson Middle School. For high school, Leander ISD’s current 9th-10th grade boundaries split the zone roughly in half: the southern half, along Hero Way West, is zoned to Leander High School, and the northern half, along North Bagdad Road, plus most of the rural western section, is zoned to Glenn High School. The zone finder’s separate 11th-12th grade layer still shows the whole zone at Glenn. That layer reflects the boundaries before the district’s 2023 secondary rezoning, which took effect in 2024-25 and let students who were juniors and seniors that year stay at their old high school. That option has now run its course, so the 9th-10th grade boundaries are the ones to use, but confirm with the district for a specific address.
