Pleasant Hill is one of the oldest operating schools in Austin. Its original wing opened in 1936 as a 1st through 9th grade school for the rural Pleasant Hill School District, which joined Austin ISD when the area was annexed in 1956-1958, and it has served only elementary grades since 1975. In 2025-26, about 87.8% of its students were economically disadvantaged, 45.2% were emergent bilingual students, and 28.8% received special education services, all well above Austin ISD averages. Enrollment was 361 in 2025-26 and is expected to grow in 2026-27 now that the former Odom zone feeds Pleasant Hill. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Pleasant Hill Elementary earned an overall C with a score of 70. That is up 2 points from a D (68) in 2024-25. Before that drop, Pleasant Hill was a B campus for three straight rated years: 82 in 2021-22, 87 in 2022-23 and 84 in 2023-24.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): C (70)
- Student Achievement: F, 57 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: C, 70 out of 100 (Academic Growth C/70, Relative Performance F/59)
- Closing the Gaps: C, 71 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: B (82) in 2021-22, B (87) in 2022-23, B (84) in 2023-24, D (68) in 2024-25
- Austin ISD (2025-26): B (81) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Pleasant Hill’s overall rating is driven by School Progress, which held a C (70) in 2025-26 as Academic Growth recovered from an F (58) to a C (70). Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, fell to an F (57), and Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, was an F (59). Closing the Gaps improved from D (65) to C (71). The campus earned three distinction designations in 2022-23 and two in 2023-24, none in 2024-25 or 2025-26, and it is not identified for state improvement support.

Programs at Pleasant Hill Elementary
These are the programs Austin ISD and the Pleasant Hill campus list for this school. The campus site publishes fairly little about clubs and enrichment, so ask the school directly if a specific program matters to you.
- Pre-K: Pleasant Hill has Pre-K on campus. TEA counted 36 Pre-K 4 students in 2025-26 (and 18 Pre-K 3 students in 2024-25, none in 2025-26), so ask the campus whether Pre-K 3 seats are offered this year
- AVID: The campus uses AVID college-readiness strategies schoolwide, focused on goal-setting, organization and high expectations
- Creative Learning Initiative: Pleasant Hill uses Austin ISD’s Creative Learning Initiative, which brings arts-based teaching strategies into regular classes to build academic and social-emotional skills
- Bilingual and ESL services: About 45% of students are emergent bilingual and about 31% are enrolled in Bilingual/ESL programs (TEA 2025-26). The campus site does not describe its program model, so ask the school which bilingual classes are offered by grade
- Gifted and Talented: Identified students are served through Austin ISD’s GT program. The campus publishes a fall referral window, a nonverbal universal screener for all 2nd graders, and testing of referred students in October and November
- After-school care: Free after-school programming through Austin ISD’s Prime Time partnership with the City of Austin, plus tuition-based care through YMCA Extend-A-Care
- Library and counseling: All classes get biweekly library lessons and book checkout, and the counselor runs classroom guidance lessons and social-emotional learning support
- Special education: Special education services are offered on campus; 28.8% of students received special education services in 2025-26, well above the district share of 20.2%
- Meals: Free breakfast and lunch for all students
- PTA and family engagement: The PTA, a parent support specialist, monthly coffees with the principal and campus tours support families

Pleasant Hill Elementary Attendance Zone Map
For 2026-27 Pleasant Hill’s zone has two parts. The long-standing part runs between S Congress Ave and I-35 from Williamson Creek near Battle Bend Blvd south to W Slaughter Ln, and also takes in the pocket between S 1st St and S Congress Ave north of Mulberry Dr, Lunar Dr and Cloudview Dr, including Stassney Lane and Circle S Road. The second part is the former Odom Elementary zone, west of S 1st St between W William Cannon Dr on the south and Williamson Creek on the north, out to the railroad corridor east of Manchaca Rd; Austin ISD reassigned it to Pleasant Hill when Odom became a non-zoned, school-wide dual language campus under the consolidation plan adopted in November 2025. Pleasant Hill was a receiving campus, not a closing one, and the merged zone is about 60% larger by area than before. Nearby neighborhoods zoned elsewhere include Emerald Forest (St. Elmo), Battle Bend Springs (Galindo), Beaconridge, Meadowcreek and Enclave on Cooper Lane (Williams), and most of Buckingham Estates (Casey). Austin ISD plans limited boundary adjustments for 2027-28 and a district-wide boundary and feeder realignment for fall 2028, with that work starting in January 2027, so confirm any address with Austin ISD’s school finder before buying.
Homes Zoned to Pleasant Hill Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Pleasant Hill Elementary’s 2026-27 attendance zone, including the former Odom Elementary area that was added this year. Because most listings in that area are still tagged to Odom (and a handful of tagged Pleasant Hill listings sit outside the zone), we did not rely on the MLS school field. Instead, we checked every Austin ISD single-family listing in the 78745 zip code against Austin ISD’s official 2026-27 boundary map and kept only those inside the zone. About 70% of the zone’s sales are in the former Odom area west of S 1st St, mainly in Salem Walk, Southwest Park, Cooper Oaks and Sweetbriar.

Data sourced from Unlock MLS. Statistics deemed reliable but not guaranteed. Single-family homes only (including a small number of detached condo-regime homes). Each Austin ISD listing in 78745 was geocoded and matched to Austin ISD’s SY 2026-27 Pleasant Hill attendance boundary, so the figures reflect today’s zone rather than the school typed into each listing; 14 listings tagged Pleasant Hill that fall outside the zone were left out.
The median sale price for homes in the Pleasant Hill Elementary zone has fallen, from $492,500 in 2022-23 to $390,000 over the trailing twelve months, a change of about 20.8%. Median price per square foot moved from $368.79 to $292.68 (-20.6%), so the per-foot picture is softer than three years ago.
Sales volume went from 97 homes in 2022-23 to 100 in the past twelve months. Median days on market rose from 31 to 33 days, and sellers received a median of 97.7% of their final list price over the past year.
Both parts of the zone declined, but not equally. In the long-standing Pleasant Hill area east of S 1st St, the median went from $462,500 in 2022-23 to $410,000 over the past twelve months, about 11% lower. In the former Odom area, which had the higher prices in 2022-23, it went from $525,000 to about $387,500, roughly 26% lower. The median home size held near 1,350 square feet throughout, so the drop reflects lower prices rather than smaller homes selling.
