In 2025-26, 84.7% of Gilbert’s students were economically disadvantaged, according to TEA, down from 90.6% in 2024-25. For 2026-27, principal Nicole Brown was accepted into the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Deeper Learning Institute and plans to redesign the campus’s progress-monitoring system into a Student-Led Data and Goal Showcase. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Gilbert Elementary earned an overall C with a score of 79. That is up 2 points from a C (77) in 2024-25. Gilbert was a B (87) in 2021-22, fell to a D (68) in both 2022-23 and 2023-24, and has improved in each of the two years since.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): C (79)
- Student Achievement: C, 71 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: B, 80 out of 100 (Academic Growth B/80, Relative Performance C/77)
- Closing the Gaps: C, 78 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: B (87) in 2021-22, D (68) in 2022-23, D (68) in 2023-24, C (77) in 2024-25
- Del Valle ISD (2025-26): D (66) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Gilbert’s overall rating is driven by School Progress, which rose to a B (80) in 2025-26 as Academic Growth improved from a C (76) to a B (80) and Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, rose from a D (67) to a C (77). Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, improved from a D (60) to a C (71), matching its 2021-22 level. Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, held steady at a C (78). Gilbert was identified for targeted support and improvement in 2024-25, but it is not identified for any state improvement support in 2025-26. The campus has not earned distinction designations in any of the five years shown.

- Two-Way Dual Language: Del Valle ISD offers its Two-Way Dual Language Immersion program at all of its elementary schools, including this one. - ACE After-School Program: Gilbert is one of the campuses with its own registration form for Del Valle ISD’s free ACE after-school program, which runs from dismissal to 6 p.m. for Pre-K through 8th grade with homework help, enrichment, dinner and bus transportation to hub stops. Enrollment priority goes to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and have an academic need.

- PTO: Gilbert has an active parent-teacher organization; the campus calendar lists a GES PTO meeting on October 15, 2026.
- PBIS: Gilbert has a dedicated PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) coordinator and a Campus Behavior Coordinator on its administrative team.

Gilbert Elementary Attendance Zone Map
Gilbert serves one of the largest elementary zones in Del Valle ISD, covering much of eastern Travis County and reaching south to the Garfield area along SH 71. Most home sales in the zone since September 2022 carry 78653 addresses (182 of 312) or 78724 addresses (113). The main neighborhoods are Whisper Valley, Forest Bluff, Tiermo and Gilbert Lane, with smaller numbers of sales in Hornsby Bend, Twin Creek Meadows and River Timber.
Del Valle ISD released two proposals, Option A and Option B, in April 2026. Elementary and middle school zones would take effect in Fall 2027, and high school zones when North Del Valle High School opens in Fall 2028. As of October 2, 2026, no board adoption had been found. Under Option A, Gilbert’s elementary boundary would not change, but the Garfield area along SH 71 would feed Del Valle Middle School and Del Valle High School, while the rest of the zone would feed Dailey Middle School and North Del Valle High School. Under Option B, the Garfield area (around Norwood Lane, Buck Lane, Caldwell Lane and Lessmann Lane, including Colorado River Ranchettes) would move to Del Valle Elementary, and all of the remaining Gilbert zone would feed Dailey and North Del Valle High School. Students who will be in 5th grade in 2027-28 may finish their final year at their current school, though grandfathered students outside their zone generally provide their own transportation. Confirm any address with the Del Valle ISD school finder before buying, and check the final adopted map if you are looking in the Garfield area.
