Guide updated August 2026
Hyde Park is a city within a city – with the center at 43rd and Duval. Developed in the 1890s, Hyde Park is one of Central Austin’s historic neighborhoods. Homes range from a large Victorian mansion to a cozy bungalow to duplexes and small apartment buildings. The majority of the homes were built between 1910 – 1950 and most are smaller bungalows with wrap around porches. Hyde Park is the neighborhood for the person who likes houses with character. This isn’t a cookie cutter subdivision with 3 floor plans. Almost every home is different. And, plans are to keep it that way. The homeowner’s association is committed to maintaining the architectural integrity of the neighborhood; therefore, renovations and remodels must maintain the look of the Hyde Park. If you’re looking for Central Austin living with wide streets, mature trees and unique houses, Hyde Park is a great place to start your search. Scroll Down to Read our Hyde Park Neighborhood Guide.
