The school’s full name is Dorothy Linder Elementary. Through the 2022 bond, Austin ISD fully modernized the campus at its current site for a budget of about $56.4 million; groundbreaking was September 17, 2024, and the new building opened for 2026-27, with the old buildings being demolished for new parking and playground space as of the district’s Q3 2026 update. Enrollment has grown from 283 in 2018-19 to 619 in 2025-26, when 93.9% of students were economically disadvantaged, 64.8% were emergent bilingual and 19.7% received special education or Section 504 services, according to TEA enrollment data. For 2026-27, Linder is a restart campus using the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) model, with Lisa Garcia as principal and an extended school-year calendar. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Linder Elementary earned an overall F with a score of 59, the same score as in 2024-25. It has been rated F for four straight years, scoring 57 in 2022-23 and 59 in 2023-24, after a B (82) in 2021-22.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): F (59)
- Student Achievement: F, 50 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: F, 58 out of 100 (Academic Growth F/58, Relative Performance F/52)
- Closing the Gaps: D, 66 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: B (82) in 2021-22, F (57) in 2022-23, F (59) in 2023-24, F (59) in 2024-25
- Austin ISD (2025-26): B (81) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. In 2025-26, Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, was an F (50), up 1 point from 49. School Progress was an F (58), with Academic Growth at 58 and Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, at 52. Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, was the one domain above the F range, improving from a D (60) to a D (66). Linder has earned no distinction designations since 2021-22.
TEA identified Linder for targeted support and improvement in 2023-24 and for comprehensive support and improvement in 2024-25, and lists it as a comprehensive support and improvement progress school in 2025-26. After repeated F ratings, TEA approved a turnaround plan on January 23, 2026. Under this District-Managed Restart, the school stays open but staff were rehired and not all prior staff returned, the campus adds extended learning time including an extended school-year calendar, and the plan includes a contingency for an outside partner to run the campus in 2027-28 if progress is insufficient.
