The Kiker Keynotes choir has performed since the school opened. Kiker is one of the larger elementary schools in Austin ISD: in 2025-26 it enrolled 715 students, with 5.7% economically disadvantaged, 9.1% emergent bilingual and 18.0% receiving special education services, according to TEA, and 13.7% were identified as gifted and talented. The student-teacher ratio was 14.2 to 1. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Kiker Elementary earned an overall A with a score of 95. That is up 2 points from an A (93) in 2024-25. Kiker has been an A campus in every rated year shown here, scoring 93 in 2021-22, 92 in 2022-23 and 91 in 2023-24.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): A (95)
- Student Achievement: A, 93 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: A, 96 out of 100 (Academic Growth A/96, Relative Performance C/76)
- Closing the Gaps: A, 92 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: A (93) in 2021-22, A (92) in 2022-23, A (91) in 2023-24, A (93) in 2024-25
- Austin ISD (2025-26): B (81) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Kiker’s A rests on three strong domains. Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, was an A (93). School Progress rose to an A (96) on Academic Growth of 96, its highest in the five years shown. Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, was an A (92). The one middling number is Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students; it was a C (76) in 2025-26, up from 70, and has ranged from 66 to 76 since 2021-22, because Kiker’s results are measured against other very low-poverty campuses. Kiker earned no distinction designations from 2021-22 through 2025-26, and it is not identified for state improvement support.

TEA issues updated ratings annually, so verify the current rating directly with Austin ISD or TEA before making a decision based on it.
