It is named for sisters Lelia and Josephine Casis. The campus was fully modernized under Austin ISD’s 2017 bond in phases from 2020 to 2022 while students stayed on site, and the new building has 40 permanent classrooms and a capacity of 800. In 2025-26, Casis enrolled 642 students, with 7.6% economically disadvantaged (compared with 48.4% district-wide), 3.0% emergent bilingual and 18.4% receiving special education services, according to TEA. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Casis Elementary earned an overall A with a score of 94. That is up 4 points from an A (90) in 2024-25. Casis has been an A campus in every rated year since 2021-22, scoring 97 in 2021-22, 92 in 2022-23 and 93 in 2023-24.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): A (94)
- Student Achievement: A, 93 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: A, 95 out of 100 (Academic Growth A/95, Relative Performance C/79)
- Closing the Gaps: A, 91 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: A (97) in 2021-22, A (92) in 2022-23, A (93) in 2023-24, A (90) in 2024-25
- Austin ISD (2025-26): B (81) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Casis earned an A in all three domains in 2025-26. Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, was an A (93). School Progress was an A (95), driven by Academic Growth at 95, while Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, was a C (79), as it has been since 2023-24. Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, rose from a B (86) to an A (91), and that accounts for most of this year’s gain. Casis earned distinction designations in 2021-22, including ELA/Reading, Comparative Academic Growth, Postsecondary Readiness and Comparative Closing the Gaps, and none in the years since. The campus is not identified for state improvement support.
