Being as though The Ridge at Alta Vista is bordered on all sides by the preserve, its a perfect place for an afternoon hike, or just to get away for a few hours.

The Hills Country Club

If you’re looking for a country club to join, The Hills Country Club is one of the more popular Lakeway clubs. If you’re into tennis, swimming, golf or just the social events, there is a membership for you.

The World of Tennis

Great place to play tennis. They have indoor and outdoor courts and all are well maintained. If you’re looking to hone your skills, their teaching staff is great. Its easy to reserve a court and hourly rates are fair.

Pao’s Mandarin House

Hot and sour soup is one of the local favorites. They also have several other Chinese dishes – including some different choices. They have $7 lunch specials and $8 early bird dinner specials. But, it’s not just the price that keeps locals satisfied. Their food is excellent. And – they even deliver.

Backstage Steakhouse

This one will cost you a bit more, but if you like steak, its worth it. Though the decor is a bit dated, the food is good, which is what keeps everyone coming back. Go when its not too hot and sit on the patio.

Tony C’s Coal Fired Pizza

If you’re missing true east coast pizza, look no further than Tony C’s Coal Fired Pizza. Something about their ovens and how the pizza is cooked is to die for. My favorite is the prosciutto and goat’s cheese pizza.

Gold’s Gym

Just a quick ride down 620 from The Ridge at Alta Vista and you’ll find a Gold’s Gym. Its really the only gym for miles, so you either like it and work out there, or you get exercise by hiking one of the trails or have your own home gym. As with the other Gold’s Gyms around town, they have the standard group classes, cardio and weight machines.
