Manor Rise Academy is in Manor ISD and earned a 4/10 rating from Great School’s as of October 2026. It is a lottery-based K-8 school of choice with no attendance zone, so admission depends on the Manor ISD Schools of Choice application rather than a home address. The campus at 13300 FM 973, near the Manor High School complex, opened in August 2023 and enrolled 657 students in 2025-26. TEA rated it a D (67) for 2025-26, the same score as the year before, and Toby Chiz became principal in August 2026. Scroll down to read more about homes near Manor Rise Academy.

Manor Rise Academy was built with Manor ISD’s $280M Bond 2019 and opened in August 2023. The roughly $45 million, 116,000 sq ft campus sits on 40 acres on FM 973 and includes a 500-seat competition gym, a separate PE gym, a media center, two art rooms, three maker spaces and performing-arts rooms. The school phased in its grades: TEA lists kindergarten through 6th grade in 2023-24, Pre-K through 7th grade in 2024-25 (when it also housed Pre-K for students zoned to ShadowGlen) and kindergarten through 8th grade in 2025-26. Pre-K is no longer offered here. FAC planning slides give capacity as 550 students in grades K-5 and 300 in grades 6-8. In 2025-26, Manor Rise enrolled 657 students, with 55.9% economically disadvantaged, the lowest share among Manor ISD’s elementary-level campuses. In 2024-25, TEA reported 35.1% emergent bilingual students, 12.0% receiving special education services and 9.5% identified as gifted and talented, a student body that was 53.5% Hispanic and 27.2% African American, and 16.7 students per teacher. It is a Title I campus. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, updated in September 2026, Manor Rise Academy earned an overall D with a score of 67, the same as its D (67) in 2024-25. In its first rated year, 2023-24, it earned an F (58). Manor ISD as a whole earned a D (66) in 2025-26, up from a D (60). The grades TEA rated changed each year as the school added grades, so year-to-year comparisons are rough.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): D (67)
- Student Achievement: D, 67 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: D, 66 out of 100 (Academic Growth D/66, Relative Performance F/59)
- Closing the Gaps: D, 68 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: F (58) in 2023-24, D (67) in 2024-25
- Manor ISD (2025-26): D (66) district-wide, up from D (60) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. The overall score held steady in 2025-26 while the domains shifted. Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, rose from 65 to a D (67). School Progress improved from an F (59) to a D (66) on stronger Academic Growth (66), while Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, stayed at an F (59). Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, slipped from a C (70) to a D (68).
TEA identified Manor Rise for targeted support and improvement (TSI) in 2025-26, a federal designation based on the results of specific student groups. The campus was not identified in 2023-24 or 2024-25, and it has not earned TEA distinction designations.

The 2022-23 and 2023-24 ratings were delayed by litigation and released in 2025, and in 2022 campuses scoring below 70 were labeled Not Rated under SB 1365. TEA issues updated ratings annually, so verify the current rating directly with Manor ISD or TEA before making a decision based on it.

Who Can Attend Manor Rise Academy
Manor Rise Academy has no attendance zone. It is one of three lottery-based schools of choice in Manor ISD, along with Manor New Tech Middle and Manor New Tech High, and it is open to students who live in Manor ISD. Families apply through the district’s Schools of Choice application in SchoolMint, and if applications exceed seats, admission is decided by lottery. Current students do not need to reapply. For 2026-27 the application window ran December 15, 2025 to January 21, 2026, with the lottery held by February 5 and offers due February 7, 2026.
Manor ISD’s 2026-27 application was only for new students then in 5th or 8th grade, so new entry to Manor Rise appeared to be at 6th grade. The district did not say how kindergarten through 5th grade seats are filled for new families, so check the current application rules with Manor ISD before counting on a seat in the lower grades. The 2027-28 cycle will likely follow a similar winter schedule.
Buying a home in Manor ISD makes a child eligible to apply but does not guarantee a seat, and every home still has a zoned elementary and middle school. Manor ISD publishes its zones only as PDF maps on its attendance zones page and has no online address lookup, so confirm an address with the district at (512) 278-4000 before buying. As of October 2026, no rezoning has been adopted for 2025-26, 2026-27 or 2027-28. Bond 2026, on the November 3, 2026 ballot, would fund safety, security and technology upgrades at Manor Rise; it has not been decided.
