The campus has had frequent leadership changes in recent years: Manor ISD announced Blake Rhyne, then Brian Reed, as principal before naming Darrell Baty for 2026-27. Baty previously served as Assistant Principal of Instruction at Manor New Tech High and as the district’s Executive Director of Research, Data & Accountability. In 2025-26, Decker Middle enrolled 609 students, and 86.9% were economically disadvantaged, according to TEA. - Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): F (52)

Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Decker Middle has not earned a TEA distinction designation from 2022 through 2026. It was identified for targeted support and improvement (TSI) in 2022 and 2023, moved to additional targeted support (ATS) in 2024, and was reidentified for ATS in 2025 and 2026. ATS is a federal label based on the results of specific student groups, and reidentified means the campus met the criteria again. The campus website links its Campus Turnaround Plan, and families weighing the school can read it alongside the full TEA report.
