Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
Canyon Ridge Middle received an A (93) in the Texas Education Agency’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, the same overall score it earned in 2024-25. Student Achievement, which is based on STAAR results, held at an A (94). School Progress, which measures how much students grew from one year to the next, slipped from an A (91) to a B (89). Closing the Gaps, which tracks how each student group performs against state targets, eased from an A (92) to an A (91). Canyon Ridge has earned an A in every year TEA has issued ratings, with overall scores between 92 and 95, and it was not identified for any federal support and improvement designation. For comparison, Leander ISD as a whole earned a B (87) in 2025-26.

Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. The 2022-23 and 2023-24 ratings were delayed by litigation over TEA’s methodology and were not released until 2025.

Canyon Ridge Middle Attendance Zone Map
Canyon Ridge’s attendance zone is built around Steiner Ranch, the large master-planned community between Lake Travis and Lake Austin at the southern end of Leander ISD. Steiner Ranch, including The Retreat at Steiner Ranch, accounts for the large majority of the zone’s homes and sales. The zone also takes in several smaller lake-area neighborhoods, including River Dance, McCormick Ranch on Lake Austin, Marshall Ford Vista, Montview Acres and Hughes Park Lake. The Four Points Middle zone lies to the east. To confirm the school for a specific address, use Leander ISD’s School Zone Finder.
Within the zone, Steiner Ranch is divided among three elementary schools, River Ridge, Steiner Ranch and Laura Welch Bush, but every home in the Canyon Ridge zone attends the same middle and high school. Because Steiner Ranch spans several elementary zones, check the elementary school for a specific address rather than relying on the school named in an MLS listing.

Most of these sales are in Steiner Ranch, with smaller numbers in River Dance, The Retreat at Steiner Ranch, McCormick Ranch on Lake Austin and Marshall Ford Vista.
