Jarrell Ranch Middle School: Opened in 2025
Jarrell Ranch Middle School was built with funds from Jarrell ISD’s May 2023 bond on land the district already owned on the east side of I-35. The board approved the schematic design on June 21, 2023, and on March 27, 2024 it unanimously chose the Jarrell Ranch name from seven options a community naming committee presented. The school opened on schedule in August 2025, and the district reports it came in about $1.2 million under budget. Before it opened, Jarrell Middle School was the district’s only middle school.
Josh Curtis is the founding principal. He was previously an assistant principal at Jarrell Middle School and a middle school principal in Liberty Hill ISD, with 18 years in education.
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Jarrell Ranch Middle earned a C with a score of 71 in its first rated year. Its students come from three elementary zones: nearly all of Jarrell Elementary, plus Cool Water and a small Sonterra section from the Igo Elementary zone, and Villages at Schwertner Ranch, Eastern Wells, Stonebridge Crossing, Park Meadows, Stone Crown and part of the town of Jarrell from the Double Creek Elementary zone. All Jarrell Ranch students continue to Jarrell High School.

Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Jarrell Ranch Middle School earned an overall C with a score of 71. This is the school’s first rating, since it opened in August 2025. TEA did not identify the campus for any improvement support.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): C (71), the school’s first rating
- Student Achievement: C, 70 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: D, 69 out of 100 (Academic Growth D/65, Relative Performance D/69)

TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
For Jarrell Ranch’s first year, STAAR achievement at 70 and Closing the Gaps at 72 were its strongest areas, while Academic Growth was lower at 65. The campus did not earn any distinction designations in 2025-26.

Homes Zoned to Jarrell Ranch Middle School: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Jarrell ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Jarrell Ranch Middle School’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Jarrell ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own boundary map. That matters here because the February 2026 elementary rezoning and the new Berry Creek Elementary and Jarrell Ranch Middle campuses mean older listings often carry old school names. The zone’s largest neighborhoods are Cool Water, Sonterra West, Villages at Schwertner Ranch, Eastern Wells, Bailey Park and Sonterra 2.
