Jarrell Elementary is the oldest of Jarrell ISD’s four current elementary schools. Kathy Hannan was named principal in May 2026, after former principal Lara Hutchinson, who led the campus for five years, was chosen to open Berry Creek Elementary. In TEA’s 2025-26 data, about two-thirds of Jarrell Elementary students were economically disadvantaged. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Jarrell Elementary earned an overall C with a score of 73, slightly below its C (75) in 2024-25 and its C (78) in 2023-24. TEA identified the campus for additional targeted support in 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): C (73)
- Student Achievement: D, 65 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: C, 73 out of 100 (Academic Growth C/73, Relative Performance D/62)
- Closing the Gaps: C, 72 out of 100
- Improvement Status: Identified for additional targeted support (ATS)
- Prior Overall Ratings: Not Rated in 2021-22 (score 66), D (69) in 2022-23, C (78) in 2023-24 with Top 25 percent distinctions in Comparative Academic Growth and Comparative Closing the Gaps, and C (75) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
Jarrell Elementary’s strongest areas in 2025-26 were Academic Growth at 73 and Closing the Gaps at 72, while STAAR achievement was lower at 65. In 2023-24 the campus earned two distinctions for ranking in the top 25 percent of comparable campuses for academic growth and for closing achievement gaps. In 2021-22, Texas labeled campuses that would have scored below a C as Not Rated under Senate Bill 1365. Additional targeted support (ATS) is a federal identification TEA gives a campus when at least one student group performs at a level comparable to the state’s lowest-performing campuses; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan.

Homes Zoned to Jarrell Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Jarrell ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Jarrell Elementary’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Jarrell ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own boundary map. That matters here because the February 2026 elementary rezoning and the new Berry Creek Elementary and Jarrell Ranch Middle campuses mean older listings often carry old school names. Nearly all of the zone’s homes are in Sonterra West, Bailey Park and Sonterra 2.
