Double Creek Elementary is in the Jarrell ISD and earned a 5/10 rating from Great School’s as of October 2026. Atlas Ranch is the planned site of the district’s fifth elementary school, so part of this zone is likely to move to a new campus in the coming years. Atlas Ranch Elementary: A New School Planned for Part of This Zone
Jarrell ISD’s 2023 bond includes a fifth elementary school, Atlas Ranch Elementary, to be built in the Atlas Ranch subdivision on County Road 344. In December 2025 the board accepted a donated site of about 13 acres there, which the district estimated saved about $2.8 million, and naming the school Atlas Ranch Elementary was a condition of the donation. The board selected American Constructors as the construction manager in March 2026, with Huckabee as the architect. Atlas Ranch is planned for about 4,000 homes.
The opening date has shifted in district communications. Jarrell ISD’s Atlas Ranch Elementary bond page lists an anticipated opening in August 2028, and local coverage in August 2026 also reported 2028, while a February 2026 bond update had listed the 2027-28 school year. Check with the district for the current timeline.
For 2026-27, homes in Atlas Ranch are zoned to Double Creek Elementary and Jarrell Middle School. Opening Atlas Ranch Elementary will require another round of elementary rezoning, and no new boundaries have been adopted yet, so buyers in Atlas Ranch and nearby Double Creek neighborhoods should expect their elementary assignment could change when the new school opens.

Double Creek Elementary was Jarrell ISD’s third elementary school. The district broke ground in December 2021, set new elementary attendance zones in February 2023, and opened the campus that August. Enrollment has grown about 30 percent since 2023-24, to 915 students in 2025-26, making it the district’s largest elementary that year. About 70 percent of its students were economically disadvantaged in TEA’s 2025-26 data, and the campus motto is Every Cougar Counts. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Double Creek Elementary earned an overall D with a score of 63. That is down from a B (81) in 2024-25 and close to its D (64) in 2023-24, the school’s first year. TEA also identified the campus for additional targeted support in 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): D (63)
- Student Achievement: F, 59 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: D, 63 out of 100 (Academic Growth D/63, Relative Performance F/58)
- Closing the Gaps: D, 62 out of 100
- Improvement Status: Identified for additional targeted support (ATS)
- Prior Overall Ratings: D (64) in 2023-24, the school’s first year, and B (81) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
Double Creek’s STAAR-based Student Achievement score was 59 in both 2024-25 and 2025-26. The difference between its B in 2024-25 and its D in 2025-26 came mostly from Academic Growth, which measures how much students improved from one year to the next and fell from 81 to 63, and from Closing the Gaps, which fell from 81 to 62. Additional targeted support (ATS) is a federal identification TEA gives a campus when at least one student group performs at a level comparable to the state’s lowest-performing campuses; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan.

Double Creek’s 2026-27 zone is part of the new elementary boundaries, known as Plan 4, that the board approved on February 17, 2026 to open Berry Creek Elementary, so older listings may show a different elementary school. The planned Atlas Ranch Elementary will require another elementary rezoning, which is likely to affect this zone.
Homes Zoned to Double Creek Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Jarrell ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Double Creek Elementary’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Jarrell ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own boundary map. That matters here because the February 2026 elementary rezoning and the new Berry Creek Elementary and Jarrell Ranch Middle campuses mean older listings often carry old school names. The zone’s largest neighborhoods are Villages at Schwertner Ranch, Eastern Wells, Stonebridge Crossing, Home Place at Jarrell, the town of Jarrell, Hunter Glen and Calumet.
