Blanco Vista Elementary opened in 2008 and is named for its location near the Blanco River, which is almost in view from the campus. It sits on the south end of Hays CISD. In 2025-26, the school enrolled 766 students, and TEA data show 65% were economically disadvantaged, 43.5% were emergent bilingual and 20.1% received special education services. For 2026-27, Hays CISD’s budget raised class-size targets to up to 24 students per teacher in Pre-K through 4th grade and up to 27 in 5th grade, so classes may be larger than in past years. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Blanco Vista Elementary earned an overall B with a score of 86. That is the same score as in 2024-25. Blanco Vista has been a B campus in every rated year since 2021-22, scoring 88 in 2021-22, 89 in 2022-23 and 88 in 2023-24.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): B (86)
- Student Achievement: C, 77 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: B, 86 out of 100 (Academic Growth B/86, Relative Performance B/81)

- Hays CISD (2025-26): B (81) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Blanco Vista’s overall rating comes from School Progress, which earned a B (86) in 2025-26, with Academic Growth at 86 and Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, at 81. Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, has held at a C (77 or 78) for five straight years. Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, earned a B (86), down from 89 in 2024-25 and from an A (92) in 2022-23. The campus has not earned distinction designations in any of these years, and it is not identified for state improvement support.

Blanco Vista Elementary Attendance Zone Map
Blanco Vista’s 2026-27 zone is almost entirely the Blanco Vista master-planned community in the 78666 zip code, including its many tracts and phases and the Heritage Point section, plus Blanco River Crossing and a few homes in The Highlands. Because the campus is inside the subdivision, many zoned homes are within walking or biking distance of the school. The January 2026 rezoning did not affect Blanco Vista, and a campus expansion design was listed in late 2024 as an item that could wait for a future bond.
Hays CISD is still growing. Its 18th elementary school is projected to open around August 2028, and a 4th high school and 7th middle school are now planned for 2030, so expect more boundary changes in the next few years.
