Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, Elgin Middle earned an overall D with a score of 69. That is down 9 points from a C (78) in 2024-25, when the campus posted a nine-point gain. Before that, Elgin Middle earned a C (74) in 2021-22, a D (66) in 2022-23 and a D (69) in 2023-24. Elgin ISD earned a D (66) in both 2024-25 and 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): D (69)
- Student Achievement: F, 57 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: C, 75 out of 100 (Academic Growth C/75, Relative Performance F/52)
- Closing the Gaps: D, 62 out of 100
- Prior Overall Ratings: C (74) in 2021-22, D (66) in 2022-23, D (69) in 2023-24, C (78) in 2024-25
- Elgin ISD (2025-26): D (66) district-wide, the same as D (66) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, fell from a D (62) to an F (57) in 2025-26. School Progress was a C (75), based on Academic Growth of 75, while Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, fell from 69 to an F (52). Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, dropped from a C (78) to a D (62). Because Student Achievement was below 70 and Relative Performance and Closing the Gaps were also below 70, TEA’s rules capped the overall score at 69. TEA identified the campus for targeted support and improvement in 2025-26, as it did in 2021-22, 2023-24 and 2024-25, and for additional targeted support in 2022-23. These designations are based on the results of specific student groups. The campus has not earned distinction designations in any of these years.
