Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
- Overall TEA Rating: B (82 out of 100)
- Student Achievement: B (86) (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: C (79) (student growth compared to schools serving similar populations)
- Closing the Gaps: C (74)
Dripping Springs Elementary earned an overall B (82 out of 100) from TEA for the 2025-26 school year, down from a B (89) in 2024-25. It has been rated B every year since 2022, with scores of 87, 87, 85 and 89 from 2021-22 through 2024-25. The 2025-26 rating came in the first year after the rezoning cut its enrollment by about a third. Student Achievement is a B (86), and both School Progress (C, 79) and Closing the Gaps (C, 74) are rated C. Dripping Springs Elementary also serves the largest share of emergent bilingual students in the district (20.7%), since it houses the dual language program.
For context, under TEA’s scale, an A rating reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized performance, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable.

Dripping Springs Elementary Attendance Zone Map
Dripping Springs Elementary’s zone changed the most in the December 2024 rezoning. Headwaters, Big Sky Ranch and Cannon Ranch moved to the new Wildwood Springs Elementary, and Sunset Canyon moved to Sycamore Springs Elementary. Today the zone covers the city of Dripping Springs and the Ranch Road 12 corridor to the north, including Founders Ridge, Texas Heritage Village, Springlake, Saddletree Ranch, Barton Creek Ranch, Deerfield Estates and Harrison Hills. Part of Heritage, which used to be entirely Walnut Springs, now carries Dripping Springs Elementary tags on MLS. Howard Ranch, Meadow Oaks and Oak Springs are split with Walnut Springs.
Dripping Springs ISD draws its attendance zones by planning unit, so a single subdivision can be split between two schools. The current zones were approved on December 16, 2024 and took effect in 2025-26. Community Impact reported at the time that the next elementary rezoning could come as soon as 2027-28, and Driftwood Springs High School will need its own boundary before it opens in fall 2028. Before you write an offer, look up the specific address in the district’s attendance zone lookup tool or call the campus.
