Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Del Valle Middle’s overall score is set mainly by School Progress, a D (60), with Academic Growth an F (59) and Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, a D (60). Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, was an F (58), about where it has been since 2022-23 (between 55 and 58). The change from last year came from Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, slipping from 65 to 60. Del Valle Middle earned a Comparative Closing the Gaps distinction in 2021-22 and none since. TEA identified the campus for additional targeted support in both 2024-25 and 2025-26, after identifying it for targeted support and improvement in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Del Valle Middle Attendance Zone Map
Del Valle Middle’s zone covers the central and southeastern part of Del Valle ISD around the community of Del Valle. About 68% of the zone’s home sales since September 2022 were in the 78617 zip code and about 20% in 78610, with smaller numbers in 78725, 78744 and 78741. For 2026-27 the zone takes in the Del Valle and Popham elementary zones, the eastern part of the Creedmoor zone and the Elroy-area part of the Newton Collins zone.
Del Valle ISD has proposed two options, A and B, for 2027-28 middle school zones, and as of October 2, 2026 no board adoption had been found. Both options would add the area along SH 71 east of FM 973 toward the Colorado River (the Garfield area, including Tucker Hill Lane, Kellam Road, Fallwell Lane, Caldwell Lane, River Road and Citation Drive) to Del Valle Middle from Dailey Middle School, and the rest of the zone would stay the same. Option B would also move the Elroy-area part of Newton Collins Elementary (Elroy Road, FM 812, Jacobson Road and Linden Road) to Popham Elementary, but that area already attends Del Valle Middle. Under the grandfathering policy adopted in February 2026, rising 8th graders may finish their final year at their current middle school, though transportation generally is not provided outside the assigned zone. Confirm any address with the Del Valle ISD school finder before buying.
