Baty Elementary first opened in 1985 across from the former Bergstrom Air Force Base. It was moved to its current Faro Drive campus, dedicated in September 1999, to make way for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, and it is named for Mrs. Willie Baty, a retired Del Valle educator. In 2025-26, 95.4% of Baty’s students were economically disadvantaged, according to TEA. For 2026-27 the campus is led by principal D’Jon Pitchford, a former assistant principal in Pflugerville ISD, and 2019 bond work gave the school a secure entry vestibule and a renovated front office. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Baty Elementary earned an overall F with a score of 57. That is down 10 points from a D (67) in 2024-25. Baty’s ratings have moved up and down since 2021-22: a C (77) in 2021-22, an F (59) in 2022-23, a C (73) in 2023-24 and a D (67) in 2024-25. Del Valle ISD as a whole earned a D (66) in 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): F (57)
- Student Achievement: F, 49 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)

- Del Valle ISD (2025-26): D (66) district-wide
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. Baty’s overall rating is driven by School Progress, which fell from a D (68) to an F (56) in 2025-26 as Academic Growth dropped from 68 to 56. Student Achievement, the share of students meeting STAAR standards, has stayed at an F (49 to 50) for four straight rated years, and Relative Performance, which compares results with schools serving similar shares of economically disadvantaged students, was an F (51). Closing the Gaps, which measures results for student groups, slipped from a D (66) to a D (60). Baty has earned no distinction designations in the past five rated years. TEA identified the campus for additional targeted support in 2025-26, after identifying it for targeted support and improvement in 2024-25.

Programs at Baty Elementary
These are the programs Del Valle ISD and the Baty campus list for this school. Baty’s campus website lists mostly district-level services and does not publish campus clubs or a PTA or PTO page, so ask the school directly if a specific activity matters to you.
- Two-Way Dual Language: Del Valle ISD offers its Two-Way Dual Language Immersion program at all of its elementary schools, including this one. The program’s first priority is emergent bilingual students learning English; a limited number of seats for incoming Pre-K and kindergarten students who speak a language other than Spanish at home are filled by application after a required parent meeting, and students must attend their zoned campus.
- ACE After-School Program: Baty is one of the campuses with its own registration form for Del Valle ISD’s free ACE after-school program, which runs from dismissal to 6 p.m. for Pre-K through 8th grade with homework help, enrichment, dinner and bus transportation to hub stops. Enrollment priority goes to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch and have an academic need.
- Right At School: Del Valle ISD announced that Right At School, a fee-based on-site enrichment and care program, is available at all of its elementary campuses for 2026-27.
- Fine Arts: Baty lists Del Valle ISD’s fine arts program under its services. At the elementary level the district program emphasizes music and visual arts, and the district has won the Texas Art Education Association District of Distinction award for visual arts several years running.
- Gifted & Talented: Baty lists Del Valle ISD’s gifted and talented program under its services; referrals and nominations for students in grades K-12 go to the campus GT coordinator.
- PBIS and Behavior Support: Principal D’Jon Pitchford describes using PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to build school culture, and the campus has a dedicated Campus Behavior Coordinator. The school-wide expectations are to be safe, be respectful and be responsible.
- 1000 Word Challenge: The campus student page links to a 1000 Word Challenge reading resource for students.
For 2026-27, Del Valle ISD offers fee-based Right At School care at all of its elementary campuses alongside the free ACE program. For current details on Pre-K, dual language seats, gifted and talented services or after-school care, contact Baty Elementary at (512) 386-3450.

Baty Elementary Attendance Zone Map
Baty’s current zone is the smallest of any Del Valle ISD elementary. It sits almost entirely in the 78741 zip code west of US 183, around East Riverside Dr, Grove Blvd, S Pleasant Valley Rd, E Oltorf St, Montopolis Dr, Faro Dr and Wickersham Ln. Most of the housing is apartments, condos and townhomes. The homes that do sell as single-family listings are mainly in Country Club Gardens, The Crossing Gardenhomes, Riverside Meadows, Club Heights, Riverside Villas and Fairway Greens.
Del Valle ISD released two rezoning proposals in April 2026, and as of October 2, 2026 no board adoption had been found. In both elementary options, Baty would take in the part of Smith Elementary’s current zone east of Montopolis and north of the airport, along the Bastrop Highway (SH 71) corridor in the 78742 zip code, including Carson Creek Blvd, Hergotz Ln, Thornberry Rd, the Jet Lane, Thompson Lane and Ramirez Lane area, and the Capitol Manor and Tejas Mobile Plaza manufactured-home communities. For middle school, Option A would send the entire Baty zone to Dailey Middle School, while Option B would keep the current Baty area at Ojeda and send only the added area to Dailey. Both high school options would place the whole Baty zone in North Del Valle High School, now expected to open in Fall 2028. Students who will be in 5th grade in 2027-28 may finish at their current school under the district’s grandfathering policy, though transportation is generally not provided. Confirm any address with the Del Valle ISD school finder before buying.
Homes Zoned to Baty Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes sold through Unlock MLS in Del Valle ISD whose listings are assigned to Baty Elementary in the MLS school field. Because Baty’s zone is mostly apartments and condos, only 10 to 18 single-family homes sell there in a year, so the medians can swing from one period to the next. Nearly half of the 58 sales since September 2022 were in Country Club Gardens, followed by The Crossing Gardenhomes, Riverside Meadows, Club Heights, Riverside Villas and Fairway Greens, and 54 of them were in the 78741 zip code.
