Mina Elementary’s Rebuilt Campus
Mina is one of the oldest schools in Bastrop ISD and has served at different times as Bastrop’s elementary, middle and high school. Over the past several years the district has rebuilt most of the campus in phases. Under the 2021 bond, the school’s front was relocated to the east side of Hill Street, with a new two-story entry and office building, new classrooms, a new dining area, new parking and drop-off, and a new playground; that phase was dedicated in January 2024.
The 2023 bond paid to demolish and replace Mina’s remaining aging buildings with a new two-story academic wing. Bastrop ISD reported Phase 2 nearing completion in May 2026, and Phase 3, covering demolition of the old buildings, playgrounds, a walking track and the parking lot, substantially complete in August 2026. In his 2026-27 welcome letter, principal Kevin Hans describes the school opening its brand-new campus after two years of construction and planning.

GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Mina Elementary received an overall D with a score of 68, the same score it received in 2024-25. TEA identified the campus for additional targeted support in 2025-26. It did not earn any distinctions.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): D (68)
- Student Achievement: D, 62 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: D, 69 out of 100 (Academic Growth D/69, Relative Performance F/57)
- Closing the Gaps: D, 64 out of 100
- Improvement Status: Identified for additional targeted support (ATS)
- Prior Overall Ratings: B (81) in 2021-22, C (77) in 2022-23, C (70) in 2023-24, and D (68) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
Mina’s strongest area is Academic Growth, which measures how much students improve on STAAR from one year to the next; it was a C (70) in 2024-25 and a D (69), one point below a C, in 2025-26. Student Achievement slipped from a D (65) to a D (62), and Closing the Gaps rose from 62 to 64. The campus earned a B (81) in 2021-22. Bastrop ISD as a whole remained a C in 2025-26. Additional targeted support (ATS) is a federal identification TEA gives a campus when at least one student group performs at a level comparable to the state’s lowest-performing campuses; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan.

Mina Elementary Attendance Zone Map
For 2026-27, Mina Elementary’s zone covers downtown and central Bastrop around the campus, including the older streets of the original town, neighborhoods north and northeast of downtown such as Pine View, Piney Ridge and Piney Creek Bend, smaller subdivisions including Magnolia Park, Pecan Valley and Riverview Heights, and part of Circle D. Bastrop ISD does not offer an address lookup tool, so check the 2026-2027 elementary attendance zone map on the Bastrop ISD school boundaries and maps page and confirm a specific address with the district.
The middle school split is the key zoning detail here. Older central Bastrop streets, for example Hill, Pecan, Cedar, Farm, Main, Water and Fayette Streets, along with Riverview Heights, go to Riverside Middle School. Neighborhoods north and northeast of downtown, such as Pine View, Piney Ridge, Piney Creek Bend, the Buckhorn Drive, Dragonfly Loop, Kelley Road and Magnolia and Linden Street areas, and Mina’s part of Circle D, go to Bastrop Middle School. All of the zone continues to Bastrop High School. Circle D itself is split among Emile, Lost Pines and Mina for elementary school. The current boundaries were adopted by Bastrop ISD trustees in January 2025 and cover the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years.
Homes Zoned to Mina Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Bastrop ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Mina Elementary’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Bastrop ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own zone maps. That matters here because the 2025 rezoning, which came with Adelton’s opening, Colony Oaks and the middle-school conversions, left many listings carrying old school names, for example homes now zoned to Adelton or Colony Oaks still tagged Mina in the MLS, and older listings have no Riverside Middle School zone to point to. Sales in the zone are spread across central Bastrop’s older streets, Circle D, Piney Creek Bend, Pine View and Piney Ridge.
