Emile Elementary is a Title I campus and one of the oldest schools in Bastrop ISD, first opening its doors in 1892. The school takes its name from Rousseau’s 1762 treatise on education, Emile, and its school song is adapted from the old Emile High School song. The campus is also home to one of Bastrop ISD’s three Child Development Centers, which provide child care for district staff and teen parents. Candice Pyles is principal. Enrollment was 581 in 2025-26, about the same as in 2016, and about 59 percent of students were Hispanic and about half were economically disadvantaged. The campus finished 2021 bond work in 2024, including a redesigned secure front entry, security cameras, a new intercom system, HVAC upgrades, an interior refresh, a flat-roof replacement and improved parent drop-off and bus lanes, and the 2023 bond includes new playground equipment and furniture. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Emile Elementary received an overall F with a score of 50, down from a C (73) in 2024-25. TEA identified the campus for comprehensive support and improvement in 2025-26. It did not earn any distinctions.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): F (50)
- Student Achievement: F, 59 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: F, 54 out of 100 (Academic Growth F/53, Relative Performance F/54)
- Closing the Gaps: F, 30 out of 100
- Improvement Status: Identified for comprehensive support and improvement (CSI)
- Prior Overall Ratings: C (72) in 2021-22, C (72) in 2022-23, D (67) in 2023-24, and C (73) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
The 2025-26 decline came across all three domains. A year earlier, in 2024-25, Emile earned a C in School Progress (Academic Growth C/73) and a C (74) in Closing the Gaps, with Student Achievement at a D (69), and the campus had earned a C in three of the four rated years before 2025-26. Bastrop ISD as a whole remained a C in 2025-26. Comprehensive support and improvement (CSI) is the most intensive federal school-improvement identification, which TEA gives to campuses such as those among the lowest-performing 5 percent of Title I campuses; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan. Emile was also identified for targeted support and improvement in 2021-22, a federal identification TEA gives a campus when one or more student groups consistently underperform.

The 2022-23 and 2023-24 ratings were released in 2025 after litigation delayed them. TEA issues updated ratings annually, so verify the current rating directly with Bastrop ISD or TEA before making a decision based on it.

Emile Elementary Attendance Zone Map
For 2026-27, Emile Elementary’s zone is anchored by Tahitian Village, a large, older subdivision east of Bastrop off SH 71, which accounts for most of the homes in the zone. It also takes in most of Circle D, nearly all of Pine Forest, and smaller subdivisions such as River Meadows, Pine Valley and El Camino Real. Bastrop ISD does not offer an address lookup tool, so check the 2026-2027 elementary attendance zone map on the Bastrop ISD school boundaries and maps page and confirm a specific address with the district.
Circle D is the main split to watch. Most of it is zoned to Emile, but other sections are zoned to Lost Pines Elementary and Mina Elementary, and the Mina sections continue to Bastrop Middle School instead of Riverside Middle School. Homes Zoned to Emile Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Bastrop ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Emile Elementary’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Bastrop ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own zone maps. That matters because the 2025 rezoning, which came with Adelton’s opening, Colony Oaks and the middle-school conversions, left many listings carrying old school names, and older listings have no Riverside Middle School zone to point to. Tahitian Village accounts for most sales in the zone, followed by Circle D and Pine Forest.
