Colorado River Collegiate Academy is in the Bastrop ISD and earned a 9/10 rating from Great School’s as of September 2026. Colorado River Collegiate Academy (CRCA) is Bastrop ISD’s early college high school, run in partnership with Austin Community College, on Hill Street in Bastrop. It serves grades 9 through 12, has no attendance zone, and admits rising Bastrop ISD freshmen from anywhere in the district by application, so students can earn an associate degree from ACC alongside their high school diploma at no cost to their families. CRCA earned an A (98) in TEA’s 2025-26 ratings, the latest in a run of A ratings going back at least to 2021-22, with five distinctions. This page covers the academy’s official ratings and programs, how admission works, and real closed-sales data for homes across Bastrop ISD from Unlock MLS.

How to Apply to Colorado River Collegiate Academy
CRCA does not enroll by address. Admission is by application and is open to rising Bastrop ISD freshmen, meaning students finishing 8th grade at any of the district’s four middle schools or otherwise enrolling in Bastrop ISD for 9th grade. The application is available in English and Spanish, and current forms, deadlines and the common application used for recent classes are posted on the CRCA Apply Now page.
Admitted students must attend Summer Bridge, held during the first two weeks of June, which includes college visits, speakers, academic preparation and team building. Seats in each class are limited, and when there are more qualified applicants than seats, the academy fills them by lottery under its posted lottery procedures. Dual credit tuition, supplies, transportation and fees are covered for Bastrop ISD students.
Because CRCA has no zone, buying a home anywhere in Bastrop ISD keeps the option open. A student who does not apply, or is not admitted, attends the zoned high school for their address, Bastrop High School or Cedar Creek High School.

Colorado River Collegiate Academy welcomed its first class in 2014 and celebrated ten years in January 2025. It shares its Hill Street building with Genesis High School, the district’s alternative campus. Principal Martin Conrardy, in his 36th year as a Texas educator, reports that the academy has graduated nine classes and that 296 of its graduates have also earned ACC associate degrees. U.S. News and World Report has recognized CRCA among its Best High Schools in 2017, 2018, each year from 2020 through 2024, and in 2025 and 2026, and Bastrop ISD has described it as the top-ranked high school in the district based on U.S. News 2024. All CRCA students graduate at the Distinguished Level of Achievement. About 42 percent of students were economically disadvantaged in 2025-26. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Colorado River Collegiate Academy earned an overall A with a score of 98, matching its scores of 98 in 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. It earned distinctions in Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Postsecondary Readiness, and its graduation rate and College, Career and Military Readiness score were both 100.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): A (98)
- Student Achievement: A, 98 out of 100 (STAAR 94, College, Career and Military Readiness 100, graduation rate 100 percent)
- School Progress: A, 97 out of 100 (Academic Growth C/74, Relative Performance A/97)
- Closing the Gaps: A, 98 out of 100
- Distinctions (2025-26): Academic Achievement in Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, and Postsecondary Readiness
- Improvement Status: Not identified for comprehensive, targeted or additional targeted support
- Prior Overall Ratings: A (99) in 2021-22, A (98) in 2022-23, A (98) in 2023-24, and A (98) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. For high schools, Student Achievement combines STAAR end-of-course results with College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR) and the graduation rate. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
CRCA is a selective-admission campus, so its results are not directly comparable to Bastrop High or Cedar Creek High, which serve every student in their zones. Its ratings have been A every year since at least 2021-22, and Bastrop ISD reported that eight of its campuses earned an A or B in 2025-26, a first for the district.

TEA’s ratings for 2022-23 and 2023-24 were released late, in 2025, after litigation over the rating system, and 2021-22 ratings labeled scores below 70 as Not Rated under Senate Bill 1365. TEA issues updated ratings annually, so verify the current rating directly with Bastrop ISD or TEA before making a decision based on it.
