Colony Oaks Elementary opened in August 2023 alongside Camino Real Elementary, the first new Bastrop ISD schools since 2009. The two are identical campuses built under the 2021 bond for just over $64 million combined, each designed for 750 students, and Colony Oaks sits on a 12-acre site in The Colony. Its name, suggested by more than 60 district employees, alumni, parents and community members, was inspired by the area’s post oak trees. Kristi Kisamore has been principal since the school opened; she previously served as principal of Riverside Middle School when it was Bastrop Intermediate. Enrollment was 539 in 2025-26, down about 26 percent from 2024, and about 38 percent of students were economically disadvantaged. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Colony Oaks Elementary earned an overall B with a score of 83, up from a C (74) in 2024-25 and a D (69) in 2023-24, its first rated year. It also earned a distinction for ranking in the top 25 percent of comparable campuses for Academic Growth. TEA identified the campus for targeted support and improvement in 2025-26.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): B (83)
- Student Achievement: C, 77 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: B, 85 out of 100 (Academic Growth B/85, Relative Performance D/67)
- Closing the Gaps: C, 78 out of 100
- Distinction: Top 25 percent Comparative Academic Growth (2025-26)
- Improvement Status: Identified for targeted support and improvement (TSI)
- Prior Overall Ratings: D (69) in 2023-24 and C (74) in 2024-25. The campus opened in August 2023, so it has no earlier ratings
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
Colony Oaks improved in every domain from 2024-25 to 2025-26, with Student Achievement rising from a D (64) to a C (77) and Academic Growth from a C (75) to a B (85). Bastrop ISD as a whole remained a C in 2025-26, and the district reported that eight of its campuses earned an A or B that year. A campus can earn a distinction and still be identified for improvement, because the identification looks at individual student groups. Targeted support and improvement (TSI) is a federal identification TEA gives a campus when one or more student groups consistently underperform on the state’s measures; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan.

The campus was not rated before 2024 because it had not opened. TEA issues updated ratings annually, so verify the current rating directly with Bastrop ISD or TEA before making a decision based on it.

Colony Oaks Elementary Attendance Zone Map
For 2026-27, Colony Oaks Elementary’s zone covers The Colony off FM 969 in west Bastrop, including its Riverside, Neches Trails, Bandera Pass and Del Webb Lost Pines sections, plus Riverside Grove and Hunters Crossing. All of The Colony is zoned to Colony Oaks for elementary school. Bastrop ISD does not offer an address lookup tool, so check the 2026-2027 elementary attendance zone map on the Bastrop ISD school boundaries and maps page and confirm a specific address with the district.
The middle and high school split inside The Colony is the most important zoning detail for buyers here. Eastern sections, for example streets such as Plumbago Loop, Cibolo Creek Loop, Maravillas Bend, Hackberry Lane, Salado Creek Trail, Periwinkle Lane and Big Pine Creek Lane, go to Bastrop Middle School and Bastrop High School. Western sections, for example Coleto Trail, Rita Blanca Bend, Maddy Way, Palo Pinto Bend, Gaston Drive, Kellogg Lane, Pinyon Pine Drive and Holzinger Bend, go to Creekside Middle School and Cedar Creek High School. Check the middle and high school maps for any specific address. The current boundaries were adopted in January 2025 and cover 2025-26 and 2026-27; Bastrop ISD’s tenth elementary school is expected to open in SilverLeaf in Cedar Creek for 2027-28, and the district may redraw nearby zones before then. No proposal has been published yet.
Homes Zoned to Colony Oaks Elementary: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Bastrop ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Colony Oaks Elementary’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Bastrop ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own zone maps. That matters here because the 2025 rezoning, which came with Adelton’s opening and the middle-school conversions, left many listings carrying old school names, for example homes now zoned to Colony Oaks still tagged Bluebonnet or Mina in the MLS. The Colony accounts for most sales in the zone, followed by Riverside Grove and Hunters Crossing.
