Bastrop Middle School opened in 1999 and served grades 7 and 8 until 2025-26, when Bastrop ISD converted its two 6th-grade centers into middle schools and all four of its middle schools began serving grades 6 through 8. It is a Title I campus. Bond 2021 work here included a redesigned secure front entry, courtyard security cameras, an enlarged science lab, bus-loop and gym canopies, HVAC and roofing work, a regraded athletic field and a new asphalt track; the district lists those items as complete and a weight-room expansion as still to come. Tiffany Peirson, a former English teacher, instructional coach and associate principal, describes 2026-27 as her fourth year leading the campus. In TEA’s 2025-26 data, about 51 percent of students were economically disadvantaged. GreatSchools and TEA measure different things. GreatSchools weighs test results against schools with similar student populations, while TEA’s rating, below, is the state’s official accountability measure.
Academic Performance: Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating
In TEA’s 2025-26 accountability ratings, released in August 2026, Bastrop Middle School earned an overall B with a score of 84, up from a C (75) in 2024-25 and a D (60) in 2023-24. It also earned a distinction for ranking in the top 25 percent of comparable campuses for Academic Growth. TEA identified the campus for targeted support and improvement in 2025-26. This was the first rating year with 6th graders on the campus; earlier ratings reflect a grade 7-8 school.
- Overall TEA Rating (2025-26): B (84)
- Student Achievement: C, 76 out of 100 (based on STAAR performance)
- School Progress: B, 83 out of 100 (Academic Growth B/83, Relative Performance C/72)
- Closing the Gaps: B, 87 out of 100
- Distinction: Top 25 percent Comparative Academic Growth (2025-26)
- Improvement Status: Identified for targeted support and improvement (TSI)
- Prior Overall Ratings: C (77) in 2021-22, C (73) in 2022-23, D (60) in 2023-24, and C (75) in 2024-25
Under TEA’s scale, an A reflects exemplary performance, B is recognized, C is acceptable, D needs improvement, and F is unacceptable. TEA builds the overall score from the better of Student Achievement or School Progress, weighted at 70 percent, plus Closing the Gaps at 30 percent. School Progress itself uses the better of Academic Growth or Relative Performance, which compares results with campuses that have a similar share of economically disadvantaged students.
Bastrop Middle’s overall score has risen 24 points in two years. In 2023-24 TEA identified it for comprehensive support and improvement, and its Closing the Gaps score was an F (45); by 2025-26 Closing the Gaps had climbed to a B (87). Bastrop ISD as a whole remained a C in 2025-26, and the district reported that eight of its campuses earned an A or B that year, a first for the district. A campus can earn a distinction and still be identified for improvement, because the identification looks at individual student groups. Targeted support and improvement (TSI) is a federal identification TEA gives a campus when one or more student groups consistently underperform on the state’s measures; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan. Comprehensive support and improvement (CSI) is the most intensive federal identification TEA uses, given to campuses whose overall performance is among the lowest in the state; the campus then writes and carries out an improvement plan with district oversight.

TEA’s ratings for 2022-23 and 2023-24 were released late, in 2025, after litigation over the rating system, and 2021-22 ratings labeled scores below 70 as Not Rated under Senate Bill 1365. Ratings through 2024-25 reflect a grade 7-8 campus; 2025-26 is the first rating year with grades 6 through 8. TEA issues updated ratings annually, so verify the current rating directly with Bastrop ISD or TEA before making a decision based on it.

Bastrop Middle School Attendance Zone Map
For 2026-27, Bastrop Middle School’s zone covers much of west and central Bastrop. It takes in nearly all of the Adelton Elementary zone (Bastrop Grove, Pecan Park, River’s Bend at Pecan Park, Adelton, Cassena Ranch and Jacobs Landing), the eastern sections of The Colony and Hunters Crossing from the Colony Oaks zone, ValVerde on FM 969 and SH 71 west of Bastrop from the Bluebonnet zone, and the part of the Mina zone north and northeast of downtown, including Pine View, Piney Ridge, Piney Creek Bend and the Buckhorn Drive, Dragonfly Loop and Kelley Road areas. Bastrop ISD does not offer an address lookup tool, so check the 2026-2027 middle school attendance zone map on the Bastrop ISD school boundaries and maps page and confirm a specific address with the district.
The most important split for buyers is inside The Colony: eastern sections, for example streets such as Plumbago Loop, Cibolo Creek Loop, Maravillas Bend, Hackberry Lane and Salado Creek Trail, plus the Riverside, Neches Trails and Bandera Pass sections, are zoned to Bastrop Middle, while western sections, including Del Webb Lost Pines, go to Creekside Middle School. Bastrop Middle’s neighbor on Old Austin Highway, Riverside Middle School, serves the older streets of central Bastrop around downtown, Riverside Grove, Tahitian Village and the Lake Bastrop area. The current boundaries were adopted by Bastrop ISD trustees in January 2025 and cover the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. Bastrop ISD’s tenth elementary school is expected to open in SilverLeaf in Cedar Creek for 2027-28, and the district has not said whether middle school zones will change with it.
Homes Zoned to Bastrop Middle School: Market Stats
The figures below cover single-family homes in Bastrop ISD sold through Unlock MLS whose addresses fall inside Bastrop Middle School’s official 2026-27 attendance zone. Rather than relying on the school name typed into each listing, we geocoded every Bastrop ISD sale and tested it against the district’s own zone maps. That matters here because the 2025 rezoning, which came with Adelton’s opening and the middle-school conversions, left many listings carrying old school names, for example homes now zoned to Adelton or Colony Oaks still tagged Mina or Bluebonnet, and older listings that predate Riverside and Creekside Middle Schools carry no middle school name for them at all. The Colony accounts for the largest share of sales in the zone, followed by Bastrop Grove, ValVerde, River’s Bend at Pecan Park, Hunters Crossing, Pecan Park and Adelton.
