In a recent report released by Forbes Magazine, Austin wins the #3 spot for Best US Cities for Jobs right behind the San Francisco/San Jose Bay Area. What Makes Austin Better than San Francisco?

Quality of life and cost of living just to name two. Austin employers generally pay very well and employees get to keep more of their money with no state income tax in Texas. Plus, our housing market, though very strong, is very affordable when you compare what you can get in the Bay Area. Austin also has a more diverse job market, whereas San Francisco and San Jose are more concentrated around the tech industry. We relocated to Austin from San Francisco where I grew up. San Francisco is a great place to visit, especially when cost of living is such that you can actually afford to go on vacation.

What Other US Cities Made the Best US City for Jobs List?

Below you’ll find the top 10 US cities that Forbes’ considers to have the best job markets. You’ll also see two other Texas cities that made the list, Dallas and Houston.

  4. Raleigh – Carey
  5. Houston – Sugar Land – Baytown

  7. New York City
  8. Orlando – Kissimmee – Sanford
  9. Dallas – Plano – Irving
  10. Denver – Aurora – Broomfield
