Highland is located only 6 miles north of the University of Texas and 7 miles north of Downtown Austin. The Highland Neighborhood offers easy access to highways as it is blanketed by Hwy 183 to the North and Hwy 35 to the East. The remainder of the Highland’s borders are quite irregular. Denson Drive and Airport Boulevard make up the southern border. The western border is mainly made up of North Lamar Boulevard while a small pie shaped section extending into the Crestview Neighborhood.

There are plenty of top-notch restaurants in Austin and living in the Highland Neighborhood will give you an easy commute to most of them. However, if you want to stay a little closer to home, you can’t go wrong with the Blackstar Co-op Pub and Brewery. The food is locally sourced and the menu consists of Texas pub fare that complements their beer. The menu ranges from shrimp in grits, to homemade chili to the Black Star Burger.
